Product Overview

Sony X85J is a premium full-array LED 4K TV. A step down from the X95J, the X85J omits full-array backlighting and uses a simpler stereo speaker setup; it also loses the color sensor.
The X85J is powered by Sony's 4K HDR Processor X1 that provides support for a broad range of image processing and HDR protocols. Naturally, it works with Alexa and Google Assistant.
While the X85J does not have the color sensor featured in the flagship X95J, it retains a light sensor that makes ambient optimization possible.
Sony's two-way stand gives the owner a choice of placement, perhaps with the accommodation of a sound bar in mind.
For those who may be satisfied with 60Hz refresh rate, Sony also markets the X80J that is otherwise indistinguishable from the X85J.

The Sony X85J has outstanding contrast and excellent black uniformity. It's a good TV for watching sports or TV shows during the day, and its low input lag and fast response time make it a good choice for playing games. Unfortunately, there is some stutter when watching movies, especially in slow, panning shots.
