Dell Latitude 9420 14"
2-in-1Product Gallery
Product Overview
Dell Latitude 9420 is a premium 14-inch business laptop in Dell's 2021 Latitude lineup. Unlike its 15-inch sister, it is redesigned in a 16:10 aspect ratio that allows the device to be more compact than its predecessor from 2020.
On the CPU and I/O fronts, the Latitude 9420 is essentially identical to the Latitude 9520: It is powered by low-powered 11th-gen Intel Tiger Lake processors, which is a departure from before when the Latitude lineup used mid-powered U-series CPUs. Thunderbolt 4, full-size HDMI, and micro SD card reader are all on offer, with the Thunderbolt connection being an upgrade from before.
With the shift to 16:10 displays, the Latitude 9420 is available in both WUXGA / FHD+ and WQXGA / QHD+ guises, with the QHD+ panel exclusive to the 2-in-1 model. Otherwise, the choice of a 2-in-1 only incurs a slight weight penalty, as the laptop can be configured identically otherwise.

Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)Dell's Latitude 9420 2-in-1 lasted for 15 hours and 2 minutes on our Laptop Mag Battery Test. The world's first automatic webcam shutter knows when you're entering and exiting a video chat. Graphene paint, two heat pipes, and a dual vent system for maximum airflow keep the laptop cool.

- Excellent battery life
- Stylus included
Cons
- Subpar webcam
- Subpar battery life

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)LatencyMon reveals minor DPC latency issues when opening multiple browser tabs. 4K video playback at 60 FPS is otherwise smooth and without any frame skips. The new 16:10 aspect ratio is more fitting for office-type workloads. The speakers are louder, processor performance has been improved, and the clickpad is larger.
Pros
- Bright 16:10 display
- Slim bezels
- Comfortable keyboard
- Good battery life
Cons
- No NFC
- No Thunderbolt 3

Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Dell Latitude 9420 2-in-1 is Dell's ultimate 14-inch business laptop. The Intel Core i7-1185G7 is a quad-core, eight-thread chip from Intel's latest "Tiger Lake" CPU family. With 16GB of memory and a speedy SSD, I experienced no lagging or sluggishness.
Pros
- Powerful Intel Core i7-1185G7 CPU
- Excellent keyboard and touchpad
- Excellent battery life
Cons
- No Thunderbolt 3 port
theverge[4]
Reviewer score 81% (normalized by Neofiliac)Despite its business focus, the laptop beat some of the best consumer thin and light laptops on a few titles. It averaged 55fps on Overwatch's Ultra settings at native resolution and 58fps at 1920 x 1200, where the XPS 13 averaged 48fps. The Latitude is beating these consumer laptops in Premiere Pro tasks, but losing in other graphic benchmarks.
Pros
- Solid performance for the price
- Solid build quality
- Good battery life
Cons
- Mediocre webcam
- No Thunderbolt 3
