Voigtlander 35mm 1:2.0 APO-Lanthar aspherical VM is a lightweight and compact manual-focus prime lens for Leica's M-mount rangefinder cameras. Released just months after its 50mm sister, this lens promises supreme optical quality with a tactile feel that only a well-constructed full-metal lens can deliver.
The 35mm APO-Lanthar, as its name suggests, is an apochromatic lens that excels at suppressing chromatic aberrations. While the f/2 maximum aperture is moderate for a prime lens, the 35mm APO-Lanthar VM is able to produce high-quality images wide open.
With Voigtlander's native mount converters, this lens can also be used on other mounts, notably Fuji X and Nikon Z.
With the same 11 elements in 9 groups, the Voigtlander 35mm 1:2.0 APO-Lanthar VM is nevertheless more compact and lighter than the E-mount version unveiled around the same time.
As is the case with the 50mm model, the Voigtlander 35mm APO-Lanthar VM shares the same 49mm filter thread, 55.6mm diameter, and optional LH-13 lens hood.
