Product Overview

The 2021 Gigabyte G7 GD/MD is an entry-level 17.3-inch gaming laptop. Compared to the G7 (KC) unveiled just a few months earlier at CES 2021, the GD/MD models are now powered by 11th-gen Intel Tiger Lake processors up to i7-11800H. With this update, the new G7 now supports DDR4-3200 as well as PCIe Gen4 SSD, though in consideration of its positioning Thunderbolt is missing.

Another major change in this update include, uncharacteristically, a downgrade: As NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3050 and 3050Ti GPUs have become available, they have replaced the RTX 3060 in the KC model. Still, the new G7 17 is just over 3.5mm thinner, making it arguably more portable.

Other features of the G7 (KC), which itself was an all-new model, have been carried over. Noteworthy is the 144Hz 17.3" FHD IPS display and the simple design.

Alongside the G7, Gigabyte also refreshed other models in its premium laptop lineup with Tiger Lake processors in May 2021.
