Product Overview

The 2021 Gigabyte AERO 15 OLED XD and YD are ultra-thin 15.6-inch laptops designed for content creators. They are an incremental improvement over the XC/YC models released just months before at CES 2021.
Much of the improvement is in the adoption of 11th-gen Intel Tiger Lake processors. With it, the new AERO 15 OLED adds support for Thunderbolt 4, Bluetooth 5.2, and PCI Express Gen4 SSD.
Aesthetically, too, the engravings on the top lid have changed, which is the only obvious difference.
Besides these changes, the AERO 15 OLED keeps the winning formula of 4K OLED display with VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification and 100% DCI-P3 coverage, generously-designed chassis, and large 99Wh battery.
Alongside the AERO 15 OLED, Gigabyte also refreshed other models in its premium laptop lineup with Tiger Lake processors in May 2021.

notebookcheck[1]

Reviewer score 78% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
The Aero 15 OLED XD offers enough quality for VoIP applications or YouTube videos, but users who want more will have to resort to the integrated audio jack or to Bluetooth. Power consumption has increased compared to the predecessor despite it having the same CPU and GPU TDP as well as comparable brightness. We found the mushy keyboard to be a negative aspect in our test.
Pros
  • Very bright OLED display
  • High-quality aluminum chassis
  • Fast NVMe SSD
  • Long battery life
Cons
  • Mushy keyboard
  • No webcam

t3[2]

Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from t3 have found:
Gigabyte AERO 15 OLED is a top-end gaming and creative laptop. Powered by the 11th-gen Intel Core i7-11800H Tiger Lake processor. Up to 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD are also available. Review model comes in with an RRP of £2,499, so not a cheap laptop.
Pros
  • Powerful gaming performance
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Loud fan noise
  • Expensive for what you get

Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from theverge have found:
On the productivity side, the Aero breezed through my usual workload, which includes around a dozen Chrome tabs, Slack, Spotify, and some occasional photo work. It strangely didn't do as well as its predecessor on our Premiere Pro test, which involves exporting a five-minute, 33-second 4K video. The Aero is a decent option for you if you're looking for a powerful OLED laptop with lots of pizzazz.
Pros
  • Powerful 4K OLED display
  • Excellent battery life
  • Excellent performance
Cons
  • Short battery life

trustedreviews[4]

Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found:
The Aero has the accuracy and ability to handle colour-sensitive tasks in the sRGB and Adobe RGB spaces. It’s an excellent screen for creative workloads, and can handle HDR tasks, too. The Intel Core i7-11800H is an excellent chip that marks a return to form for Intel. Elsewhere, the Aero includes 32GB of memory and a 1TB SSD that delivered sensational read and write speeds of 7040MB/s and 5132 MB/s.
Pros
  • Gorgeous screen
  • Excellent gaming performance
  • Excellent multi-tasking
Cons
  • Loud fans
  • No Thunderbolt 3
