Product Overview

Bowers & Wilkins Formation Wedge is a premium all-in-one wireless speaker in B&W's new Formation series. It features a unique design that, paired with its five strategically-angled drivers, combines design with function.
Part of the new Formation lineup introduced by B&W in 2019, the Formation Wedge is the model designed for modern homes. It is not targeted at the HiFi market.
Like other speakers in the Formation series, the Wedge can be used with either Bluetooth or WiFi.
The Formation Wedge supports B&W's proprietary WiFi mesh system that uses 2.4GHz for streaming from the source and 5GHz among Formation devices: this allows for ultra-low latency when paired with other speakers or the Audio streamer in the Formation range.
Other models in the Formation series include the Duo (stereo speakers), Bar (soundbar), Bass (subwoofer), Audio (wireless streamer), and Flex (compact speaker).

26cm (9.8 x 11 x 10 inches) B&W Formation Wedge has 240 watts of Class D amplification. Two aluminium double-dome tweeters get 40 watts each, and a couple of FST midrange drivers enjoy the same power. The drivers occupy almost all the space behind the grille, and their layout broadly follows the same shape.
Pros
  • Powerful, dynamic sound
  • Lots of connectivity options
  • Easy to set up and use
Cons
  • No physical connection

The Formation Wedge is a great-sounding speaker. Shows oodles of confidence when it comes to bass response. There’s also a delicateness to how it goes about its business, offering impressive insight and clarity, even at loud volumes. Despite its weird proportions, the Wedge fulfils offers a big, room- filling sound.
Pros
  • Gorgeous design
  • Powerful sound

The B&W Formation Wedge has five drivers and a subwoofer. It uses Apple AirPlay 2, aptX HD Bluetooth and Spotify Connect. Like the rest of the Formation range, it's Roon Ready and can be set up using the Roon app. Vocals are clear, textured and emotive but never over-emphasised. The sound is expertly balanced throughout the sonic spectrum.
Pros
  • Sleek, well-balanced sound
  • Intuitive controls
  • Excellent build quality
Cons
  • No third-party app
