Product Overview
Sonos Five is the company's most powerful wireless speaker for music. It can be used either alone or in a multi-speaker setup via LAN or WiFi with other Sonos speakers or soundbars. For more flexibility, Sonos has also endowed the Five with a 3.5mm line-in option, allowing the user to drive it with any device that has a line-out (or headphone jack).
As such, the Five misses built-in voice assistants. It is also limited to WiFi when connecting to your smart devices. As usual, the Sonos S2 app is required to use it.
Naturally, the Five's largely plastic construction and class-D amplifiers may not appeal to enthusiasts, but for the undiscerning listener it likely is enough. Unlike the One, however, the Five's price point is one such that a decent HiFi system can be managed, making the Five a hard sell.
