Product Overview

Sonos One SL is a variant of the popular wireless speaker, the Sonos One Gen 2. It drops the far-field microphone array and built-in voice assistants for a slightly lower price point. The One SL is intended to be part of a multi-speaker system.
Like other Sonos speakers, this can be achieved by pairing the One SL with other Sonos speakers and soundbars either wirelessly via WiFi or wired via LAN.
While the One SL loses the voice assistant function and lacks Bluetooth connectivity, it is perfectly able to stream music via WiFi from your smart devices. It also supports Apple AirPlay 2.

Reviewer score 90% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techadvisor have found:
The One SL is the cheapest Sonos speaker you can buy at £179/$179. It's essentially identical to the excellent One, but doesn't have microphones for voice-control. This can also be thought of as a replacement to the Play:1 speaker. Top-notch sound quality is backed up by Sonos' excellent range of features.
Pros
  • Top-notch sound quality
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • No microphones for voice control

techradar[2]

Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The Sonos One SL is a network-only smart speaker. There are no microphones or a dedicated microphone ‘button', just the play/pause, volume up and volume down ‘buttons' The sound and acoustic properties of One and One SL are identical. Inside are two Class-D digital amplifiers, one mid-woofer and one tweeter. There's enough power for high volume, high octane music, but always without distortion.
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Easy to use
  • Works with Apple Airplay 2
Cons
  • Doesn’t support Bluetooth streaming

trustedreviews[3]

Reviewer score 89% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found:
Sonos One SL is a great-sounding compact speaker. Well-balanced, with a bigger, louder sound than its size suggests. Sonos supports AirPlay 2, so you can fling audio to the speaker if you’re watching Apple TV+ on your iPad or TV box. It’s not the best-sounding smart speaker – go to the Apple HomePod instead.
Pros
  • Excellent sound quality
  • Easy to set up and use
  • Excellent integration with Sonos apps
Cons
  • No Dolby Atmos

whathifi[4]

Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from whathifi have found:
Sonos One SL looks almost identical to the Sonos One, with a touch-sensitive top plate and pairing button. You can now pair a One and One SL in stereo, a set-up that looks and sounds good for the money. Trueplay analyses the One SL's surroundings and adjusts its sonic balance accordingly. Bass-wise, it's every bit as energetic, punchy and detailed a performance as you'd get from its voice-controlled sibling.
Pros
  • Punchy, punchy and detailed sound
  • Easy to use app
Cons
  • No Bluetooth
  • No Wi-Fi
