Product Overview

Sonos Arc is a premium all-in-one smart soundbar with 11 independently-driven drivers. Designed as the perfect companion for TV, it packs a lot of punch in a small package and brings Dolby Atmos support to those who prefer to do away with the clutter of a multi-speaker setup.
Like other Sonos smart speakers, the Arc comes with Google Assistant and Alexa built-in, through which it adds voice control to your home entertainment system.
The Arc also supports WiFi connectivity, via which it can be paired with other Sonos speakers to form an ad hoc multi-speaker sound system.
Owners can purchase the Sonos Sub 3 independently to add a wireless subwoofer to the system. By adding a pair of Sonos One SLs, meanwhile, gives you an authentic surround sound experience.

Reviewers from gizmodo have found the following***:
The Sonos Arc is a soundbar and probably wouldn't satisfy audiophiles who really invest in their hardware. It's part of a new wave of Sonos hardware that will use its forthcoming S2 app. The app doesn't officially launch until June 8, so I tested the Arc with a beta version.

Pros
  • Great sound quality
  • Dolby Atmos and HDR10+ support
  • Lots of ports
Cons
  • No built-in microphones
  • No Dolby Vision support

cnet[2]

Reviewers from cnet have found the following***:
The Sonos Arc is now the company's most expensive product, but it offers sound quality and convenience that none of the other Sonos soundbars can match. Unlike with the bass-shy Sonos Beam, I never felt like I needed a subwoofer with the Arc. The Arc isn't the best option for so-called deep listening, it's more of a fun fair.

Pros
  • Super-wide soundstage
  • Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital Plus support
  • Built-in subwoofer
Cons
  • Doesn't support eARC by default

Reviewers from digitaltrends have found the following***:
The $799 Sonos Arc is the home theater upgrade that Sonos fans have been waiting for. It delivers superb surround sound, a good if subtle Dolby Atmos experience, plus all of the benefits of a smart speaker. Only its lack of HDMI inputs and slightly compromised music quality keep it from being a perfect soundbar for the price.

Pros
  • Excellent surround sound
  • Dolby Atmos Music
  • Alexa and Google Assistant support
Cons
  • No HDMI inputs
  • No multiroom audio

pcmag[4]

Reviewers from pcmag have found the following***:
For a one-piece soundbar, the Sonos Arc has a surprising amount of power. The kick drum hits in our bass test track, The Knife's “Silent Shout,” are powerful and weighty at high volumes. Pairing the Arc with two Sonos One speakers for true surround is a very good idea.

Pros
  • Powerful bass response
  • Dolby Atmos and voice assistant support
  • Works with Apple AirPlay 2
Cons
  • No multi-band EQ

rtings[5]

Reviewers from rtings have found the following***:
The Sonos Arc is great for dialogue-centric content like TV shows. Its balanced mid-range can reproduce voices clearly and with detail, though they can also sound a bit bright. While it supports Atmos content, it lacks dedicated surround speakers. It also lacks some low-bass, which may affect sound effects.

Pros
  • Bass and treble adjustments
  • Dedicated surround speakers
  • Dialogue enhancement feature
  • Bluetooth connectivity
Cons
  • Lacks some low-bass
  • Limited wireless playback options
  • Doesn't support Atmos content

t3[6]

Reviewers from t3 have found the following***:
The Sonos Arc has two HDMI inputs, plus the HDMI out connection to the TV. The Sonos Beam is more stylish, thanks to a fabric outside and its neat mix of a lozenge shape and concave top. The sound is so engaging and dynamic, and is a huge step up over what simpler budget soundbars (or built-in TV speakers) can achieve.

Pros
  • Gorgeous sound
  • Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision support
  • Easy to set up and use
Cons
  • No Auto TruePlay tuning
  • No built-in remote control

The Sonos Arc has 11 drivers consisting of eight elliptical woofers and three silk-dome tweeters. It supports Dolby Atmos, the audio brand's 3D sound technology. The bass available on the Arc is powerful and rich and I'm often turning it down in fear of annoying the neighbours. It has support for Alexa, Google Assistant, AirPlay 2, you can use your TV remote to control volume and it automatically knows whether it's wall-mounted.

  • Excellent sound quality

techhive[8]

Reviewers from techhive have found the following***:
The Sonos Arc sounds fantastic, with crisp highs, thick midrange, and slabs of well-defined bass. It's one of the few soundbars I've listened to where I didn't feel an acute need for a subwoofer. Sonos relies too heavily on the capabilities of your TV when it comes to delivering Dolby Atmos.

Pros
  • Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+ support
  • Excellent sound quality
  • Easy to set up and use
Cons
  • Doesn’t support eARC support

techradar[9]

Reviewers from techradar have found the following***:
The Sonos Arc was designed to make the most of Dolby Atmos. Eight elliptical woofers combine to deliver a solid overall bass response. The tuning balances a nice amount of warmth through the mids with an impressive level of clarity. We were particularly taken by the unit's ability to deliver soundscapes that distinguished sound from individual instruments during particular arrangements.

Pros
  • Dolby Atmos-ready
  • Excellent sound quality
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • Only compatible with iOS devices
  • Only works with third-party Wi-Fi speakers

With eight woofers and three tweeters, the Sonos Arc delivers a wide, rich soundstage. To fully optimize the Arc's sound based on your living room, you'll need to run the company's Trueplay tuning feature. There's a Night Sound mode to tamp down the volume and oomph of the Arc.

  • Built-in microphones
Cons
  • No Dolby Atmos
  • No built-in sound profile adjustments

The Sonos Arc works like any of the best smart speakers when the TV is off. Whether you control it via the S2 App or AirPlay 2, you're able to stream audio from all your preferred services. The Arc's built-in microphones can be used to summon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even competes in-brand with our top smart speaker pick, the Sonos One.

Pros
  • Dolby Atmos and other high-fidelity audio
  • Built-in microphones
  • Alexa and Google Assistant support
Cons
  • Doesn’t support Alexa or Google Assistant

trustedreviews[12]

Reviewer score 68%
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found the following***:
The Sonos Arc can dig deeper and hit harder than seems plausible from such a slender soundbar. There’s plenty of texture and detail revealed, and a very decent sense of straight-edged control to the start and stop of low-frequency sounds. The bottom-end stuff doesn’t impact on the midrange above it, which is equally detailed, giving ample character to dialogue and sound-effects alike. But where ‘upper bass’ becomes ‘lower midrange’ there's an absence (or, more properly, a concavity) where that transition is poorly managed.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Excellent build quality
  • Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support
  • Decent sound quality
Cons
  • Bass and midrange aren’t as distinct as they should be
  • No DTS support

trustedreviews[13]

Reviewer score 92%
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found the following***:
The Sonos Arc soundbar is an impressive soundbar in its own right. Upgrading with additional speakers makes a great soundbar even better. Adding rear speakers for 5.1 or Dolby Atmos content gives you that greater degree of positioning and engagement. You can add rear speakers so that audio actually comes from behind you, making more immersive films. Add a Sonos Sub (or two) if you want the best bass available.

Pros
  • Dolby Atmos 3D and 5.1
  • Excellent build quality
  • Excellent soundstage
Cons
  • Bass isn’t the best

whathifi[14]

Reviewers from whathifi have found the following***:
The Sonos Arc delivers one of the most convincing Atmos presentations of any soundbar we've heard. Play the bombing run scene from Unbroken and we're immediately transported to within the fuselage of the B-24 Liberator. Bigger dynamic shifts are also handled with aplomb, with the first fly-by of the Japanese fighter plane rocking the room.

Pros
  • Impressive Atmos performance
  • Impressive multiroom performance
  • Dolby Atmos support
Cons
  • Sound isn’t projected forward or towards listening position
  • No Dolby Vision

wired[15]

Reviewers from wired have found the following***:
The Sonos Arc can reproduce the surround-sound effects of movies encoded with Dolby Atmos audio if your TV and streaming app of choice also support it. Like other Sonos speakers, you can custom-tune it to your room. It will work with Alexa or Google Assistant (you must choose one or the other)—and Siri via AirPlay.

Pros
  • Dolby Atmos support
  • Easy to set up
  • Built-in subwoofer
Cons
  • No built-in Alexa or Google Assistant support
