Product Overview

The A1 is LG's 2021 entry-level 4K OLED TV. It is built much like the B1 but comes with some compromises in video and audio. Notably, the A1 refreshes at 60Hz rather than the 120Hz that other 2021 LG OLED TVs delivers; it also uses a simple stereo speaker setup
Like the B1, the A1 uses a α7 Gen 4 processor rather than the α9 Gen 4 AI processor found in higher-end models.
On the positive side, the A1 continues to sport LG's latest OLED display panel, aided with a full set of digital image and audio processing functionalities. Some such protocols include Dolby Vision IQ, Dolby Atmos, and Filmmaker Mode.
Now more than ever, LG is pushing for pushing its OLED TVs for productivity and gaming. However, while the A1 retains G-Sync and FreeSync Premium support, because it refreshes at 60Hz it is not ideal for gaming.
The A1 is joined by the B1, C1, G1, and Z1 in LG's 2021 OLED lineup.

    External Reviews

    digitaltrends[1]

Reviewer score 67% (normalized by Neofiliac)
    Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
The A1 OLED's peak brightness measures at about 500 nits while the LG C1 and Vizio OLED max out closer to 750 nits. Colors lack a certain sizzle on the A1 compared to the C1, and the overall picture level is a bit dimmer. The A1 can do 4K HDR at 60Hz, and it has remarkably low input lag at about 10 milliseconds in game mode.
    Pros
    • Sleek design
    • Excellent black levels
    • Excellent gaming performance
    Cons
    • No variable refresh rate
    • No HDR

The LG A1 OLED is an excellent TV for pretty much any usage. Deep, inky blacks make it an outstanding choice for watching movies in the dark. Low input lag and nearly instantaneous response times help deliver an amazing experience playing games in SDR or HDR. It's also great for watching sports or TV shows thanks to the wide viewing angles and superb reflection handling.
    Pros
    • Outstanding viewing angles
    • Near-instantaneous response time
    • Excellent gray uniformity
    • Exceptional low input lag
    • Amazing color gamut
    • Above-average brightness
    Cons
    • Can't get very bright
    • Doesn't support variable refresh rate technology
    • Can't remove judder from all sources
