Product Overview

Sony SRS-XP700 is a powerful wireless speaker designed for parties. It features a unique X-Balanced speaker setup with three front-facing tweeters, one top-rear-facing tweeter, and two large non-circular woofers, giving the SRS-XP700 a wide, less directional sound stage perfect for parties.
Compared to the SRS-XP500 unveiled at the same time, the SRS-XP700 adds not only power but longer battery life and more potent fast charging: It boasts 25 hours of battery life and support fast charging that adds 3 hours of playback in just 10 minutes. It also enjoys the same IPX4 weather resistance and RGB lighting.
Naturally, Sony has enabled Party Connect feature, making it possible to connect up to 100 compatible speakers for music and lighting syncing.
Last but not least, the SRS-XP700 comes with two USB charging ports as well as a microphone and guitar inputs for versatility in entertainment.
For a more portable package, Sony also introduced the SRS-XG500 that is a good option for on-the-go partying.

pcmag[1]

Reviewer score 77% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The SRS-XP700 delivers serious bass thud that approaches the kind of low-end thunder you might hear from a club PA. With MegaBass on at top volumes, the bass is actually tamed somewhat by digital signal processing (DSP) to save the drivers from themselves. Kick drums on rock tracks sound similar to live kick drums through a PA—not nearly as loud, but still packing a Mjolnir-like thud.
Pros
  • Powerful audio performance with MegaBass and LED lights
  • Powerful bass
Cons
  • Bulky and heavy

rtings[2]

Reviewer score 43% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from rtings have found:
While it has a boomy sound profile, it struggles to reproduce low-bass, so you can't feel the thump and rumble in bass-heavy music like hip-hop or EDM. Its overemphasized mid-range can make some vocals and instruments sound a bit honky and harsh. Fortunately, its companion app comes with presets and a graphic EQ, meaning you can customize its sound to your liking. It can also get quite loud, though there's some compression at max volume.
Pros
  • Low latency with iOS and Android devices
  • Graphic EQ and presets
  • Can get loud
  • Supports up to two devices at once
Cons
  • Some compression at max volume
  • Lacks deep thump and rumble in bass-heavy music
