Product Overview

OnePlus Buds Z are affordable true wireless earphones with a minimalist design. They deliver up to 5 hours of music playback on a single charge, which is extendable to 20 hours with the charging box.
Like the OnePlus Buds, the OnePlus Buds support high-wattage fast charging that allows the user to add 3 hours of music playback in 10 minutes.
For convenience, they support Bluetooth 5.0 wireless connectivity and IP55 water resistance.
OnePlus also introduced a special edition of the Buds Z designed by Steven Harrington, which add a more lively flare.

External Reviews

pcmag[1]

Reviewer score 73% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The Buds Z offer powerful low-frequency response and don't distort at top, unwise listening levels. The DSP (digital signal processing) does seem to noticeably kick in at higher volumes, thinning out the lows slightly, but there's still plenty of bass kick here. There's no app, but that's totally excusable at this price, as is the lack of extra features or accessories.
Pros
  • Powerful low-frequency response
  • Powerful audio performance
  • Comfortable fit
Cons
  • No volume controls
  • No headphone jack

rtings[2]

Reviewer score 41% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from rtings have found:
The OnePlus Buds Z are fair for mixed usage. They have a bass-heavy sound profile that may be muddy and overwhelming for fans of a more neutral sound. They're stable enough to wear to the gym, and their microphone can help you communicate with your friends. However, their 3.7-hour continuous battery life may not last through your 9-5 workday.
Pros
  • Comfortable in-ear design
  • Good microphone quality
  • Stable and stable fit
Cons
  • Bass-heavy sound profile may be overwhelming for fans of a more neutral sound
  • No sound customization options

techadvisor[3]

Reviewer score 56% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techadvisor have found:
The Buds Z look an awful lot like the original Buds, but use silicone tips for your inner ear. This makes them substantially more comfortable than the first-gen Buds. They also block out a lot more external noise, helping them sound better than their budget specs would suggest. The circular outside of each bud is a touch-sensitive panel, but controls are frustratingly limited. They may have bigger drivers and slightly better battery life, but lack of silicone is enough to make them a worse choice for most.
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Comfortable fit
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Average sound quality
  • Limited controls
