LG SP7Y 5.1-Channel
SoundbarProduct Gallery
Product Overview
LG SP7Y is a midrange 5.1-channel soundbar with wireless subwoofer. Successor to the SN7Y from 2020, the SP7Y inherits its winning formula while increasing the power output of the main soundbar unit. Its feature set, however, remains largely unaltered.
Like other 2021 LG soundbars that do not come with rear speakers, the SP7Y can be complemented by LG's SPK8 wireless rear speakers to reproduce an authentic surround sound experience.
In terms of sound processing, the SP7Y supports DTS:X Virtual on as well as Meridian Audio Technology. It also comes with support for Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Apple AirPlay 2.
Other soundbar in LG's 2021 lineup include the 3.1.2-channel SPD7Y that closely resembles the SP7Y and the SN7Y, the 3.1.2-channel SP8YA, the 5.1.2-channel SP9YA, and the range-topping 7.1.4-channel SP11RA.

Its balanced mid-range can reproduce voices clearly, though the underemphasized treble can make higher frequencies a bit dark or dull. Though it supports surround content, it doesn't offer the most immersive listening experience. It doesn't support object-based formats like Dolby Atmos.
