Product Overview

SteelSeries Arctis 7 is a premium wireless headset powered by the same 40mm hi-res drivers found across the range. It is also available as Arctis 7P for PlayStation and Arctis 7X for Xbox: either offers unique design elements, and both come with a different wireless transmitter than the base Arctis 7.
The Arctis 7 comes with the same retractable boom microphone found in the Arctis 9. However, it drops Bluetooth support, thus tying the headset to its own wireless transmitter. RGB lighting is also sacrificed to reach its price point. Still, one can expect the same audio and microphone performance for gaming.
On the plus side, the Arctis 7 offers a longer battery life, stretching it to 24 hours.
With the compact wireless USB-C transmitter, the Arctis 7P and Arctis 7X offer arguably more flexibility: While marketed for PlayStation and Xbox respectively, they are compatible with a broader range of devices.
SteelSeries also markets the Arctis 5, which is a wired headset that shares much of the same features.

External Reviews

androidauthority[1]

Reviewer score 75% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from androidauthority have found:
The SteelSeries Arctis 7 boasts 7.1 digital surround sound using DTS Headphones:X 2.0 technology. The headband is also replaceable, which elongates the overall life of the headset. The company claims a 24-hour battery life with a recent firmware update, but SoundGuys' review cites 16 hours on a single charge.
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Supports DTS Headphones:X 2.0 technology
  • Comfortable fit
Cons
  • Bass de-emphasis can sound distorted
  • Microphone quality is slightly attenuated

laptopmag[2]

Reviewer score 66% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from laptopmag have found:
In Watch Dogs: Legion, the SteelSeries Arctis 7P was excellent at highlighting the low suspenseful beat during cutscenes. The voice dialogue was crisp and loud enough to take priority over all of the hacking sound effects. The headset doesn't feature any EQ settings, so there's no software that can help you along if you're having audio balancing issues.
Pros
  • Excellent audio performance
  • Comfortable fit
  • Supports PS5 and Xbox
Cons
  • No EQ settings
  • Slightly inaccurate sidetone

rtings[3]

Reviewer score 55% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from rtings have found:
The SteelSeries Arctis 7 are decent for neutral sound. Their bass and treble delivery depend on their fit, seal, and positioning on your head. You can also tweak the way they sound to better suit your needs using their companion software's graphic EQ. The microphone records voices clearly, even in loud environments like a gaming tournament.
Pros
  • Comfortable and secure fit
  • Long continuous battery life
  • Great microphone recording quality
  • Good noise isolation performance
Cons
  • Bass delivery varies depending on who's wearing them
  • High latency
  • Not very portable

t3[4]

Reviewer score 75% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from t3 have found:
The SteelSeries Arctis 7P Wireless headset is versatile and works with a range of different devices, thanks to the USB-C dongle. The 40mm drivers have a controlled dynamic range varying from 20 to 20,000Hz, so lows are well-defined while highs are really crisp. The retractable mic is noise-cancelling and impressed with how well it filters the sound, it doesn't pick up much external noise at all. We wouldn't recommend the headset to replace your headphones when it comes to music.
Pros
  • Great noise-cancelling
  • Comfortable fit
  • Easy to set up
Cons
  • Expensive for what you get

techradar[5]

Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The SteelSeries Arctis 7P is a great gaming headset that's ready for the PS5 right out of the box. It includes a retractable Discord-certified microphone and 24 hours of battery life. Music quality is serviceable but a bit on the flat end despite bass and mids sounding good. Not supporting virtual surround sound on PC in favor of offering compatibility with Sony's Tempest 3D Audio Tech makes sense.
Pros
  • Solid build quality
  • Comfortable for long gaming sessions
  • Wireless connection dongle
  • 24 hours of battery life
Cons
  • No virtual surround sound
  • Ski goggle adjustment strap may be uncomfortable for some users

tomsguide[6]

Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from tomsguide have found:
The SteelSeries Arctis 7P/7X works beautifully with every game genre. It employs a USB-C dongle for pairing rather than USB-A. The mic itself is a retractable design with a red light that lets you know when the input is muted.
Pros
  • Excellent sound quality
  • Easy to use
  • Comfortable fit
Cons
  • Dongle is a little small

tomshardware[7]

Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from tomshardware have found:
Arctis 7 is considerably more breathable than the Alpha, thanks to that elasticated headband and materials used at the contact points. The headband's slightly more substantial than in older iterations, now matching that found in the pricier Arctis Pro headset. DTS Headphone:X v2.0 virtual surround technology made for an impressive stereo spread with a just barely perceptible ring of digital artifice.
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Comfortable fit
  • Great sound quality
Cons
  • Lackluster low-end sound
