Huawei MateBook X Pro

Product Overview
The 2021 Huawei MateBook X Pro is an evolution of the MateBook X Pro from previous years. Retaining the gorgeous 3:2 3K2K LTPS display with 100% sRGB coverage and 91% screen-to-body ratio, the 2021 MateBook X Pro now features 11th-gen Intel Core, Tiger Lake processors.
The adoption of the 10nm Tiger Lake low-powered processors is a departure from previous generations, where medium-powered U-series units were employed. The Intel Iris Xe graphics also made the discrete MX250 unit obsolete.
The 2021 model is otherwise almost identical to the 2020 MateBook X Pro, with the memory upgrade to LPDDR4x 4266MHz, twice the speed of the previous unit, and the upgrade in Bluetooth as notable changes.
Huawei's MateBook D 16 AMD is the other model that is ready for 2021. After the refresh of the flagship MateBook X Pro, we can expect other laptops in Huawei's product portfolio to be refresh in the coming months.

External Reviews
anandtech[1]
Reviewer score 60% (normalized by Neofiliac)The MateBook X Pro 2021 (13.9-inch) is one of the premium laptop offerings from Huawei. Our model features the latest Intel 11th Generation Core i7-1165G7 quad-core processor, a thin-bezel 3000x2000 resolution display, 16 GB of LPDDR4X memory, a 1 TB Samsung NVMe SSD, Wi-Fi 6, and a 56 Watt-hour battery all in a 1.33 kg (2.9 lb) aluminium unibody chassis. The display is big, and vibrant, and the device has both Type-C and Type-A ports, which are a must. The performance ultimately isn't that stellar, compared to others in this market, perhaps due to the design limitations and 15 W limit in order to get the display and chasis of this caliber.
Pros
- Good portability
- Good battery life
- Good trackpad
Cons
- No webcam placement
androidauthority[2]
Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)Aesthetics and design are the cornerstones of the Huawei MateBook X Pro series. The design still holds up well and remains the main reason to buy this particular laptop. With a high-end 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1165G7 onboard, day-to-day performance is more than adequate. Performance and battery life are both well for day-day workloads.
Pros
- Attractive design
- Good battery life
- Decent performance
Cons
- No webcam
- No webcam
laptopmag[3]
Reviewer score 62% (normalized by Neofiliac)Packed within the Huawei MateBook X Pro 2021 lies an Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor. It was able to juggle 30 Google Chrome tabs and five 1080p YouTube videos without an issue. The webcam pops up from the keyboard and stares up at my nose and my three chins.
Pros
- Decent performance
- Comfortable keyboard
- Good battery life
Cons
- Mediocre webcam
- Limited ports
notebookcheck[4]
Reviewer score 68% (normalized by Neofiliac)The keyboard suffers from the same drawbacks as most other Ultrabooks: shallow travel and somewhat soft feedback. The roomy clickpad is larger than the clickpad on the XPS 13 9310 (12 x 7.7 cm vs. 11.2 x 6.5 cm) Its gliding properties are extremely smooth with essentially no sticking even when moving at very slow speeds.
Pros
- Excellent CPU performance
- Excellent battery life
- Comfortable keyboard
Cons
- Poor webcam positioning
- Poor webcam placement
pcmag[5]
Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)The MateBook X Pro offers no performance surprises. It will easily handle pretty much any basic computing task you throw at it, from web browsing to videoconferencing. It's the slowest of the bunch on our Cinebench test, a rendering exercise that's fully threaded to make use of all available processor cores and threads.
Pros
- Sleek, premium design
- High-resolution screen
- Good battery life
- USB-C and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity
Cons
- Battery life could be better
- No Thunderbolt 3 port
t3[6]
Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Huawei MateBook X Pro (2021) has a high-end 11th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. You'll also find four speakers placed on either side of the keyboard that fire upwards. For general productivity like working, word processing and web browsing, this is a superb piece of kit. Battery life may be a little subpar and performance isn't quite top-tier, but despite that, it will cope well with heavy workloads.
Pros
- Super-fast Wifi 6 and Bluetooth 5
- Comfortable keyboard
Cons
- Battery life could be better
techradar[7]
Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)The MateBook X Pro comes with an 11th gen Core i7-1165G7 and 16Gb of DDR4 RAM. It limps behind most of its rivals in the premium laptop market, but it's unlikely you would notice for most day-to-day activities. The battery life is another area that falls under the average for premium laptops, managing to trundle along for 10 hours and 13 minutes.
Pros
- Sleek design
- Good battery life
- Decent performance
Cons
- No Thunderbolt 3
tomshardware[8]
Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)Huawei's MateBook X Pro has one of the prettiest designs in the Windows world. But it isn't differentiated enough from other great notebooks like the Dell XPS 13. Huawei is promising that the laptop will come to the U.S. via Amazon and to European markets soon.
Pros
- Gorgeous design
- Beautiful color
- Great battery life
Cons
- Poor webcam placement
- No Windows 10 bloatware
trustedreviews[9]
Reviewer score 78% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Huawei MateBook X Pro 2021 has an 11th-generation Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. It doesn’t have as many pixels as a 4K laptop, but I often question whether 4K resolution is worth it in a portable laptop. Its screen surface is glossy, since it’s a glass touchscreen, but it comes with a solid anti-glare coating.
Pros
- Slim and light
- Good battery life
- Decent webcam
Cons
- No 4K resolution
