HP ZBook Firefly 15 G8 is an ultra-portable 15.6-inch mobile workstation powered by Intel's 11th-gen Core, Tiger Lake processors. Like the 14-inch Firefly 14 G8, it adds 5G mobile broadband support via the optional Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 LTE/5G modem compared to its predecessor.

Other upgrades over the G7 model include dual Thunderbolt 4 ports and memory upgrade to DDR4 3200MHz. Naturally, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5, and NVIDIA T500 are part of the package, too.

All this is packed in a chassis just over 3/4 of an inch thin (just under 20mm).

Still, due to the minimum increment in performance in Intel's new chip, we can expect the overall performance of the G8 to be close to that of the ZBook Firefly 15 G7, which is on sale at the launch of the G8.

The ZBook Firefly 15 G8 is equipped with an Nvidia Quadro T500. This entry-level graphics card for workstations is based on the GeForce MX450. It offers very good read and write speeds that are on par with the competition. With an average power consumption of 5.6 watts in idle usage and 64.4 watts under load, it is one of the most energy-efficient devices in the field.

The HP ZBook Firefly 15 G8 is a compelling mobile workstation. Its Intel "Tiger Lake" CPU and available Nvidia Quadro T500 graphics make it peppy enough for 2D and 3D rendering. The 15.6-inch ZBook wasn't destined to challenge the MSI or the two Lenovos.
