Product Overview
Intel Core i5-11600K is the most affordable unlocked (K-series) desktop microprocessor in Intel's 11th-gen Core, Rocket Lake family. It is also available without integrated graphics in the form of i5-11600KF.
Like its predecessor, the Core i5-11600K comes with 6 cores and 12 threads, though it is clocked marginally higher.
Rocket Lake is based on its new Cypress Cove microarchitecture backported to the 14nm process. Intel claims significant IPC (instructions per clock) increase, though reviewers have mixed feedbacks on observed performance.
Another area where Intel improved is the integrated graphics, now named Intel UHD 750. It is the same unit found in higher-powered Rocket Lake processors.
Last but not least, the new Rocket Lake processors support DDR4-3200MHz memories, though the i5-11600K/KF defaults to 2:1 ratio of DRAM to memory controller at this frequency. Intel also includes PCIe 4.0 support with up to 20 lanes.
Alongside the i5-11600K, Intel also markets the Core i5-11600KF. The "F" designation means the i5-11600KF does not come with the integrated graphics.
Three other i5 CPUs in the 11th-gen include the i5-11600, i5-11500, and i5-11400 as well as their derivatives.

External Reviews
pcmag[1]
Reviewer score 75% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Intel Core i5-11600K straddles the line as a chip that can power games along with a discrete GPU. It can run the show all on its own with the help of its onboard Iris Xe-based UHD Graphics 750 silicon. AMD's G 3000 Series chips still have it beat for tight-budget gamers looking for CPU and GPU power.
Pros
- Excellent performance for a midrange CPU
- Excellent integrated graphics performance
- Good value for money
Cons
- Lacks a discrete GPU
- Some stability issues

Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Intel Core i5-11600K consumes way more power and gets way hotter than the Intel Core I5-10600K. For the first time, we're recommending that everyone that picks this processor up goes for a pretty robust CPU cooler. Intel has finally caught up to AMD on desktop in that regard, and you're going to be able to use the fastest SSDs on the market.
Pros
- Fantastic 1080p gaming performance
- Great cooling
- NVENC support
Cons
- Higher power consumption than Ryzen 5 5600X
