Product Overview

OnePlus 9 Pro is the brand's early-2021 flagship smartphone. Like most flagship contenders this year, it is powered by a Snapdragon 888 chipset. Compared to the base OnePlus 9, the Pro model offers a list of industry-leading features.
On the display front, the OnePlus 9 Pro features a 6.7-inch QHD+ OLED panel with 525ppi ultra-high pixel density. Naturally, the same 120Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 coverage remain.
Inside, the OnePlus 9 Pro comes with 12GB of LPDDR5 memory and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The device's Bluetooth module is also upgraded to v5.2, though the secondary SIM card slot is missing.
In terms of cameras, the OnePlus 9 Pro shares much of the same upgrades from the OnePlus 9. It adds an 8MP telephoto camera, allowing the new flagship to amass some of the most potent camera set on the market today.
Last but not least, the OnePlus 9 Pro supports 65W wired Warp Charge as well as 50W wireless charging.

androidauthority[1]

Reviewer score 67% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from androidauthority have found:
The OnePlus 9 Pro's in-display fingerprint sensor is only so-so. The entry-tier model of the phone, with 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM, never made it to the United States. In a spot of good news, the phone is currently very easy to find for much lower prices than its $1,069 list price.
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Great camera
  • Great battery life
Cons
  • In-display fingerprint sensor is a bit slow
  • No wireless charging

Reviewers from gsmarena have found:
Xiaomi Mi 11 is Xiaomi's implementation of the 'everything but the kitchen sink' smartphone. At $1099, the Oppo Find X3 Pro comes at a premium but one that may be worth paying. If you're more into gaming, you might want to consider the Asus ROG Phone 5.
Pros
  • Top-notch camera performance
  • Great battery life
  • Fast charging
Cons
  • No fast charging in the box
  • No wireless charging

laptopmag[3]

Reviewer score 92% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from laptopmag have found:
The 8MP telephoto lens gives you about a 3.3x zoom, similar to what you have on the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Autofocus was sharp and reliable, colors looked good and while I lack an 8K panel to test on, the output looked crisp and clean on my 4K display.
Pros
  • Fantastic performance
  • Excellent battery life
  • Fast charging
Cons
  • OxygenOS 11 is a little slow
  • No wireless charging

Reviewers from ndtv have found:
The selfie camera was one of my main gripes with the OnePlus 8 Pro, and unfortunately, nothing has yet been fixed. Autofocus is a bit slow, but the final image quality can be very good depending on the lighting. You can't use Nightscape with the front camera, and videos are still restricted to 1080p.
Pros
  • Great performance
  • Great battery life
  • Great cameras
  • 50W wireless charging
Cons
  • No 1080p 120fps video recording
  • No telephoto camera

nextpit[5]

Reviewers from nextpit have found:
At night, I found the OnePlus 9 Pro to perform quite well. The dedicated night mode, NightScape, only works with the ultra-wide angle and main wide angle lenses. The ultra wide angle and dedicated telephoto lens bring versatility that I appreciate, although the zoom is not the best on the market. The Warp Charge 65T wired fast charging has already debuted on the OnePlus 8T.
Pros
  • Long battery life
  • Very good cameras
  • Fast charging
Cons
  • No telephoto lens

notebookcheck[6]

Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
The Chinese manufacturer offers the OnePlus 9 Pro at a very competitive price of 899 Euros (~$1,055) You get a high-quality device, a lot of performance, good battery life, a highly color-accurate display, a flexible camera, fast-charging technology, and up-to-date as well as fast communication features. The phone is at a high level in terms of photo quality, but currently not a top ranking despite the cooperation with Hasselblad.
Pros
  • High-quality display
  • Good battery life
  • Fast-charging technology
  • Fast charging
Cons
  • No macro camera
  • No microSD card slot

pcmag[7]

Reviewer score 98% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
Hasselblad worked closely with OnePlus to update its color science and develop additional features for pro smartphone shooters. The photos' colors are warm and inviting, with reds and blues getting a healthy saturation boost while yellows and greens tend to be a little undersaturated. In Pro mode, you can adjust ISO, focus exposure time, white balance, and a number of other settings.
Pros
  • Excellent performance
  • Excellent battery life
  • Fast charging
Cons
  • Lackluster cameras
  • No wireless charging

phonearena[8]

Reviewers from phonearena have found:
Rumors say it'll start at $799 and, with the expected specs, it'll definitely be able to make an impression at that price point. There's no motorized selfie camera, like we saw on the Pro. It'll have a 6.78-inch diagonal and a QHD (1440 x 3168) resolution.
Pros
  • Gorgeous display
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No headphone jack
  • No IP68 rating

techadvisor[9]

Reviewer score 78% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techadvisor have found:
The OnePlus 9 Pro is available to pre-order now from OnePlus, with a full release on 31 March. The 8/128GB model costs £829/ €899 in the UK, while the 12/256GB version is more at £929/€999/$1,069. It's also £200/€200/$340 up from the OnePlus 9, which mostly looks like a better buy. It lacks the telephoto camera and uses a different sensor for the main lens, but still at 48Mp - and camera performance is hardly a strength here anyway.
Pros
  • Great battery life
  • Fast charging
  • Great camera
Cons
  • No dynamic refresh rate
  • No IP68 rating

techradar[10]

Reviewer score 88% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The OnePlus 9 Pro is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. The main camera has both optical and electronic image stabilization to ensure that footage is shake-free. On the front of the phone is a selfie shooter with a 16MP Sony IMX741 sensor and an aperture of f/2.4. The phone comes running Android 11 right out of the box, with OnePlus's own OxygenOS look.
Pros
  • Top-end performance
  • Long battery life
  • Decent cameras
Cons
  • No microSD support
  • No wireless charging

Reviewers from theverge have found:
The camera is passable in good light but falls down fast in the dark. Portrait mode is a mixed bag; heads often look artificially cut out from the blurry background. The OnePlus 9 Pro is not a “flagship killer” It's a flagship phone that makes a lot of promises and delivers.
Pros
  • Super-fast performance
  • Great camera
  • Great battery life
Cons
  • No telephoto lens
  • No 5G
  • No wireless charging

Reviewers from tomsguide have found:
OxygenOS 12 is now available, but you may want to hold off on updating it. The update as it stands is full of bugs and broken features. If you opt for the OnePlus 9 Pro, you’re getting a very capable camera. While Nightscape might be a bit inconsistent and just plain inferior to the Pixel’s Night Sight.
Pros
  • Sleek, minimalist design
  • Excellent performance
  • Excellent camera
Cons
  • OxygenOS 12 is still buggy
  • No Wi-Fi

trustedreviews[13]

Reviewers from trustedreviews have found:
Hyper Touch gaming feature paired with the 120Hz display makes the 9 Pro a great gaming device. Call quality and Wi-Fi reception are adequate, but the speakers are a little on the weak side. The camera app is slow, especially when you’re opening it up with a double-tap of the side key. My most significant concern is whether people will be willing to buy this device with the cash required.
Pros
  • Beautiful 120Hz display
  • Great performance
  • Great battery life
Cons
  • Slow camera
  • No headphone jack

whathifi[14]

Reviewer score 69% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from whathifi have found:
The OnePlus 9 Pro is a compelling way of getting some top features and a decent video performance from a phone without having to pay the typical flagship premium. All that engine, screen and multimedia fun does come at a fair cost to the battery, though. The base level of audio in this portable is not the most exciting and the Dolby processing adds at least an impression of the missing dynamism. Still, its huge screen makes for an enjoyable way of watching TV and film wherever you are.
Pros
  • Attractive design
  • Good battery life
  • Decent cameras
Cons
  • No Dolby Atmos
  • No wireless charging
