Product Overview
OnePlus 7 is a premium smartphone powered by Snapdragon 855 chipset. It features up to 8GB of LPDDR4X memory and 256GB of internal storage. A 6.41-inch OLED screen with in-display fingerprint sensor wraps up the attractive yet conservative design.
Released next to the OnePlus 7 Pro, the OnePlus 7 is the first generation where a "Pro" model is marketed next to a base one. While the Pro has a more avant-garde design, the OnePlus 7 inherit much of the same design elements of the 6T. Indeed, essentially the same display is used here.
What has been a marked improvement is the rear camera setup on the OnePlus 7. The main camera unit features Sony's 48MP IMX586 sensor, which is a step-up from the previous model. However, the secondary camera is now weakened, giving way for the 7 Pro to differentiate.

Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)At £549 in the UK (with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage, as reviewed), it sits below the £699-equivalent 7 Pro. You do lose some of the pizzazz of the Pro with that extra money you're saving, but the additional power makes it a better option over the older 6T. The OnePlus 7 is not currently available in either the US or Australia.
Pros
- Great value for money
- Great battery life
Cons
- No ultrawide camera
- No wireless charging
gsmarena[2]
Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)The front camera lacks autofocus, but at least its sweet spot is set so it works at a comfortable arm's length. Pictures offer good colors and dynamic range as long as the portrait mode isn't active. Overall it's competitive but needs a bit more detail to be considered one of the best in its class.
Pros
- Top-notch camera
- Good battery life
- Decent performance
Cons
- Camera lacks autofocus
- No headphone jack
nextpit[3]
Reviewer score 78% (normalized by Neofiliac)The OnePlus 7 does not have a headphone jack. If you don't want to use Bluetooth headphones, you'll need a USB-C adapter. The larger earpiece/loudspeaker is now used in addition to the downward-facing loudspeaker. The built-in loudspeakers are also Dolby Atmos certified, but that doesn't replace a proper sound system.
Pros
- Good battery life
- Good cameras
- Fast charging
Cons
- No headphone jack
- No wireless charging
- No IP certification
notebookcheck[4]
Reviewer score 89% (normalized by Neofiliac)It's already hard to read the display at medium brightness when the surroundings are very bright. There are slight color shifts to be noticed regarding viewing angles, but these aren't critical. The viewing angles are otherwise almost perfect from any direction. The leap in performance is definitely noticeable in the benchmarks compared to the OnePlus 6T; will it be perceived in day-to-day too? Probably not.
Pros
- Very fast UFS 3.0 storage
- Very good battery life
- Fast SoC
Cons
- No IP certification
techadvisor[5]
Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)There's still a dual-camera setup, and the secondary lens is the same depth sensor as on the 6T. But the primary camera is now a 48Mp, f/1.7 shooter with optical image stabilisation - which should, in theory, produce sharper images. The camera sometimes has issues with washed out skies and a brightening of scenes and colours to an unrepresentative degree. But for the 99% of people who aren't pixel peeping and obsessing over it, it's a very good rear setup.
Pros
- Fantastic 90Hz display
- Great battery life
- Great performance
Cons
- No triple-lens camera
- Not the best camera
techradar[6]
Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)The OnePlus 7 is a solid smartphone offering flagship features at a price point that easily undercuts the likes of Apple, Samsung and Sony. We ran the Geekbench test on the OnePlus 7 and it managed to gain an average multi-core score of 10,576. The OnePlus 7 Pro is a better, more exciting option, but it does cost more and if you're on a strict budget you'll be well-served by the 7.
Pros
- Top-notch cameras
- Good battery life
- Fast charging
Cons
- No wireless charging
- No IP rating
trustedreviews[7]
Reviewer score 88% (normalized by Neofiliac)The OnePlus 7 packs the same Snapdragon 855 processor, paired to either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. Storage starts at a generous 128GB too, but you can splurge for the beefier 256GB if you prefer. As is usual with OnePlus phones, there’s no expandable storage but with so much internal space for the price, most users won’t have to worry about it becoming a limitation. A lot of this performance comes from Oxygen OS, which remains my personal favourite reskin of Android.
Pros
- Beautiful 90Hz AMOLED display
- Great battery life
Cons
- No wireless charging
- No headphone jack
