Product Overview

Leica Noctilux-M 50 f/1.2 ASPH is the third lens in the Leica Classics Range, reintroduced in early 2021. Originally produced from 1966 to 1975, it was the world's first lens to feature aspherical elements.
The Noctilux-M 50 f/1.2 uses the classic Double-Gauss lens formula, with 6 elements in 4 groups. The advantage of this design is that the lens has little field curvature or chromatic aberration while delivering a large maximum aperture in a compact package. Its downside lies traditionally in spherical aberration: however, the Noctilux-M 50 f/1.2, thanks to its adoption of aspherical elements, addresses this issue.
Leica markets this reintroduced lens in black anodized body as standard, while glossy aluminum is also available. The Noctilux lens also comes in special editions in silver chrome and brass.
