Product Overview

SN11YG is the flagship in LG's 2020 soundbar lineup. A 7.1.4-channel system, the SN11YG comes with both wireless rear speakers and a wireless subwoofer. It supports the most complete set of digital audio processing programs, including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.
Like other premium soundbars in LG's lineup, the SN11YG features Meridian Audio speakers as well as Google Assistant built-in for voice control.
As the flagship, SN11YG sports up-firing drivers in both the main soundbar unit and the rear speakers, producing a more authentic 7.1.4-channel experience.
Other soundbars unveiled at the same time include the 2.1-channel SN5Y, 3.1-channel SN6Y, 3.1.2-channel SN8YG and SN7Y, and 5.1.2-channel SN9YG and SN10YG.

digitaltrends[1]

Reviewer score 64% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
The LG SN11RG packs cinematic performance into the footprint of a soundbar. The subwoofer packs a considerable punch as a worthy sidekick to the bar itself. LG seems to be making this soundbar for a very specific group of consumers. But open the floor to other options, and there are better ways to spend this kind of money.
Pros
  • Excellent sound quality
  • Dolby Atmos performance
  • Built-in subwoofer
Cons
  • Expensive for what you get

rtings[2]

Reviewer score 62% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from rtings have found:
The LG SN11RG is good for mixed use. It's able to reproduce boomy explosions in movies as well as thumpy beats in music. Although it has a boomy sound profile, it can reproduce accurate and clear voices. It can get loud enough to fill a large room or a crowded environment.
Pros
  • Well-balanced sound profile
  • Can get loud enough to fill a large room or a crowded room
  • Supports Atmos and Atmos content
Cons
  • Some compression artifacts present
  • Doesn't sound as immersive as a down-firing speaker

t3[3]

Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from t3 have found:
The LG SN11RG is an excellent soundbar for anyone who wants the full Dolby Atmos/DTS:X experience, complete with height, rear and side effects. It's arguably the first true rival for the previously all-conquering 7.1.4-channel Samsung HW-Q90R soundbar system in this area. You really will need to have a 65-inch TV or bigger, but if your aim is to get the truly cinematic surround feeling in your home, it's superb.
Pros
  • Powerful rear/height speakers
  • Excellent build quality
Cons
  • Lacks Dolby Atmos/DTS:X
  • Subwoofer is a bit one-dimensional

techradar[4]

Reviewer score 83% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The LG SN11RG is at its most flat out-exciting with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X movie soundtracks. In vanilla stereo mode it delivers a rich, clean, well-separated soundstage that sounds detailed without becoming clinical. The AI Sound Pro setting genuinely mixes the music across the front and rear speakers, rather than simply ‘doubling up' the sound. It also raises vocal tracks using the height channels startlingly effectively at times - especially with relatively acoustic or voice-dominated tracks. It won't suit everyone - or every album- but it's worth experimenting with, at the very least.
Pros
  • Dolby Atmos and DTS:X soundtracks
  • Excellent build quality
Cons
  • Bass can sometimes sound ‘narrow’

trustedreviews[5]

Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found:
LG SN11RG is made for a good Dolby Atmos or DTS:X film soundtrack. Soundstage is startlingly complete, with sides, rear and even the height channels all making their presence clearly felt. Subwoofer consistently inserts itself aggressively into rowdy action scenes, or provides potent underpinning to crashing seas or throbbing spaceship engines. Vocals sometimes aren't dispersed vertically quite well enough.
Pros
  • Dolby Atmos and DTS:X
  • Impressive 3D soundstage
Cons
  • Subwoofer can sound slightly unrefined

whathifi[6]

Reviewer score 15% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from whathifi have found:
There's a dedicated Music mode, which adds a little processing to maximise the attributes for music, though we stick with Standard for the best results. There's also an AI Mode that detects the source and automatically switches between Movie and Music settings. When playing Dolby Atmos film content, these audio modes are locked out to make sure that you get the full experience.
Pros
  • Dolby Atmos
  • Decent build quality
Cons
  • Lack of detail
  • Lacks punch
