Product Overview

Yamaha YAS-109 is a soundbar with two built-in woofers. It improves upon Yamaha's award-winning YAS-108 released in 2018. Thanks to its compact, all-in-one form factor, the YAS-109 is easy to place in any room.
The YAS-109 supports a rich set of digital audio processing functionalities, including DTS Virtual:X virtual 3D surround sound. With Alexa built-in, the YAS-109 also supports voice control.
Launched at the same time is the YAS-209, which comes with a wireless subwoofer.
In 2020, Yamaha has launched the new SR-B20A that shares with the YAS-109 most of its features, though it drops WiFi and thereby MusicCast support.

Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
The YAS-109 is a great option if you have a limited budget, smaller room, and want the excellent functionality that comes with Alexa built-in. In cinema mode, we were especially impressed with the soundbar's ability to project both crystal clear dialogue definition and surround sound elements. We did notice a touch of sibilance and phase-cancellation with DTS Virtual: X engaged, especially for soundbars this size.
Pros
  • Excellent sound quality
  • Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support
  • Alexa built-in
Cons
  • No HDMI ARC support
