Product Overview

Yamaha SR-B20A is an entry-level soundbar with two built-in woofers. It improves upon Yamaha's award-winning YAS-108 and YAS-109 and is easy to place in any room, thanks to its compact, all-in-one form factor.
The two subwoofers in the SR-B20A are designed for richer and clearer bass as well as DTS Virtual:X, which imparts even more realism into movies and games. The soundbar also features Clear Voice technology for enhanced dialogue clarity. It can be placed on a cabinet or shelf, or wall-mounted via the built-in keyholes. No additional bracket is required.
Launched at the same time is the more compact SR-C20A, which employs a single-woofer setup.

Reviewers from digitaltrends have found the following***:
The YAS-109 features Wi-Fi, and is currently still available on Yamaha's website, sometimes for a marked-down price of $180. I was notably impressed with the low end this bar was able to produce without a true dedicated subwoofer. Clear Voice was particularly helpful in amplifying lower-decibel dialogue like Tom Segura's voice on the YMH podcast.

Pros
  • Excellent sound quality
  • Bluetooth multipoint support
  • Amazon Alexa built-in
Cons
  • Lacks Wi-Fi
  • No support for WAV, AAC, AAC

Yamaha's SR-B20A soundbar is a good match for the best gaming TVs. It features a pair of 55mm midrange drivers and a 75mm subwoof. It also features DTS Virtual:X, Dolby Audio and DTS Digital Surround, but no Dolby Atmos. Build quality and finish is every bit as good as you'd expect from Yamaha.

Pros
  • Full-bodied, expansive sound
  • Dolby Atmos, DTS Virtual:X and DTS Digital Surround
Cons
  • Bass isn’t the best

techhive[3]

Sentiment Score 81%
Reviewers from techhive have found the following***:
Yamaha's SR-B20A soundbar cranks out solid, tight bass with its built-in subwoofers. In a smaller listening space, the soundbar's DTS Virtual:X mode will do a solid job of expanding and deepening the soundstage. The sound might falter a bit in a bigger entertainment room.

Pros
  • Powerful audio performance with built-in subwoofers
  • DTS Virtual:X mode is easy to upgrade
Cons
  • No HDMI or Wi-Fi connectivity

techradar[4]

Reviewers from techradar have found the following***:
Yamaha SR-B20A is one of the tidier soundbars you can buy, at any price. Soundbar is able to work in either orientation because of its driver layout. Connectivity is available via HDMI ARC, a couple of digital optical sockets and Bluetooth 5.0.

Pros
  • Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X soundtracks
  • Easy to set up and use
Cons
  • Lack of detail and nuance at lower frequencies

Reviewers from trustedreviews have found the following***:
Yamaha SR-B20A boasts 120 watts of Class D amplification. Connectivity is available via Bluetooth 5.0, an HDMI ARC socket and a couple of digital optical inputs. There’s a pre-out for a dedicated subwoofer, just in case two 75mm bass drivers powered by 30 watts each doesn’t sound quite potent enough for you.

Pros
  • Wide, expansive soundstage
  • Excellent remote control
  • Decent build quality
Cons
  • No Dolby Atmos support
  • No built-in subwoofer

whathifi[6]

Sentiment Score 53%
Reviewers from whathifi have found the following***:
The SR-B20A is a stereo soundbar, with six drivers in all. Four of these fire upwards if the unit is benched (forward if on the wall) The bar can get sound from your TV in two (or potentially three) ways. There is no analogue mini-jack fall-back input here, though one does feature on the smaller SR-C20A.

Pros
  • Full Yamaha tone
  • Easy to use
  • Good build quality
Cons
  • Lacks dynamic expression
  • No built-in subwoofer
