External Reviews

cnet[1]

Reviewer score 66% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cnet have found:
Despite its compact size, the G14 manages to look more gaming-functional than business-impressive. It has gamer-like angled vents, big keycaps and an irritating power connection placement. The screen is Pantone Validated, but that just means it's better than it would have been had it not been factory calibrated.
Pros
  • Solid build quality
  • Solid performance
  • Comfortable keyboard
Cons
  • No Thunderbolt 3
  • No built-in webcam

digitaltrends[2]

Reviewer score 64% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is small enough to use as an everyday laptop. Typing isn't a slog, but the bottoming out action is mushy. The keyboard backlighting is also limited. The constant hum of the fans and lack of a webcam aren't ideal.
Pros
  • Powerful eight-core processor
  • Excellent touchpad
  • Excellent battery life
Cons
  • No webcam
  • No webcam

laptopmag[3]

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from laptopmag have found:
The Zephyrus G14 is touting AMD's prized beast: the Ryzen 9 4900HS processor. It ran through 40 Google Chrome tabs and five 1080p YouTube videos while Doom Eternal ran in the background without a sweat. On the Geekbench 4.3 overall performance test, it scored 30,181, which obliterates the 20,995 mainstream gaming laptop average.
Pros
  • Superb gaming performance
  • Sleek magnesium alloy chassis
  • Comfortable keyboard
Cons
  • Mediocre battery life
  • No webcam

notebookcheck[4]

Reviewer score 71% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
The Asus Zephyrus G14 is a real eye-catcher in the Special Edition with the Alan Walker design. The sturdy hood houses a solid combination of a fast AMD SoC and a dedicated Nvidia graphics card. The built-in display is good, and it offers an equally good color-space coverage. There are still two Type-C ports, though, one of which offers additional features like DisplayPort and Power Delivery.
Pros
  • Matte WQHD display
  • Good CPU performance
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Display could be brighter

pcmag[5]

Reviewer score 83% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is an impressive laptop on every front. We like the way it looks, the compact form factor is useful and, in a way, satisfying to use. AMD's new CPU really shines, and puts a lot of pressure on Intel in this price range.
Pros
  • Sleek, compact design
  • Excellent gaming performance
  • 120Hz display
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No Thunderbolt 3 port

pcworld[6]

Reviewer score 67% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcworld have found:
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is a 3.5-pound, Ryzen 4000-based laptop. It can hang in CPU performance with laptops that weight 10 pounds. The G14 gives you a decent array of ports. Thunderbolt 3 and Gigabit ethernet are notably absent from the port array.
Pros
  • Solid CPU performance
  • Good trackpad
  • Good keyboard
Cons
  • No onboard webcam
  • No Thunderbolt 3 or Gigabit ethernet

t3[7]

Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from t3 have found:
Asus G14 is a deceptively monstrous laptop which can do the things you need it to do. On long-term test, used for work as well as gaming, it does still manage to reach the level which earned it our 2020 T3 Award. It's not the most powerful gaming laptop on the market, and I'd definitely be interested to see what Asus can do.
Pros
  • Gorgeous WQHD display
  • Superb CPU performance
  • Comfortable keyboard
Cons
  • Nothing in particular

techadvisor[8]

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techadvisor have found:
The Asus ROG Zeph14 is a portable gaming rig first and foremost. Despite its size, the G14 can accommodate up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 (Max-Q) The G14 is available for pre-order in most of Asus' principal markets, including the UK and US. Pricing starts at £1099/US$1099, but can be as high as £1799/ US$1449.
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Powerful gaming performance
  • Decent battery life
Cons
  • Backlighting could be better
  • No webcam

techradar[9]

Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The Asus Zephyrus G14 is a gaming laptop that's half the price of the Alienware m17 configuration we reviewed back in December. With a 3DMark Time Spy score of 5,872 and the ability to run Metro Exodus on Ultra settings with a decent 38 fps frame rate, you can expect solid gaming performance here. AMD seems committed to avoiding the high-end of the market for now, so hopefully we'll be able to see exactly where these chips line up with future systems.
Pros
  • Powerful AMD Ryzen 4000 CPU
  • Comfortable keyboard
  • Solid battery life
Cons
  • No Thunderbolt 3
  • No dedicated GPU

theverge[10]

Reviewer score 83% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from theverge have found:
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 can handle the multitasking you need it to. The keyboard, touchpad, and battery life are superb. If you don't mind a low-resolution screen and fans that you can hear, you'll be happy with the G14 as your primary device.
Pros
  • Excellent keyboard and touchpad
  • Excellent battery life
  • Comfortable keyboard
Cons
  • Fans can be loud
  • No Thunderbolt 3

tomsguide[11]

Reviewer score 77% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from tomsguide have found:
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is the smallest gaming laptop on the market. It boasts the longest-lasting battery of any gaming laptop we've seen. The display is rock solid, the audio rich and robust, and the performance offered by the AMD 9-49 processor and Nvidia 2060 MaxQ are some of the best you'll get.
Pros
  • Incredible gaming performance
  • Long battery life
  • Comfortable keyboard
  • Good touchpad
Cons
  • Mediocre webcam
  • Lackluster audio

tomshardware[12]

Reviewer score 75% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from tomshardware have found:
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 punches above its weight class for an affordable price. It has comparable performance to the 45W, 6-core, 12 thread Intel CPUs in a similar price point. The screen is good, the battery life is strong and the keyboard is clicky.
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Good gaming performance
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Fans whir a bit
  • No webcam

trustedreviews[13]

Reviewer score 69% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found:
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is an outstanding laptop. Not only is it powerful enough to run any PC game in Full HD at respectable frame rates but it also weighs very little and is incredibly affordable. I’m very impressed by the £1799 model but more budget-minded gamers can get this laptop for as little as £999.99 if they’re content to opt for less powerful components. It’s a return to norm when gaming laptops are creeping over the £2000 bracket.
Pros
  • Powerful AMD Ryzen 4000 processor
  • Decent battery life
Cons
  • Lack of RGB lighting
  • Underwhelming SSD performance
