Product Overview
Olympica Nova V is the largest floorstanding loudspeaker in the Olympica Nova collection by Sonus faber. Featuring a 3-way design, the Olympica Nova V comes with three 180mm woofers for superior control in the lower frequencies in the music.
Building on the success of the original Olympica series, the Olympica Nova adds a number of new technologies that range from new drivers and crossovers to new cabinet structure and internal volume tuning:
The cabinet of the Olympica Nova V is constructed with eight layers of wood. The outer part of the Stealth Ultraflex system comprises of an extremely low-turbulence porting system fabricated from a solid piece of extruded aluminium and is inherited from the Sonus faber Homage collection. The cabinet supports are completely redesigned and crafted from solid aluminium billets and paired with steel spikes. Genuine leather is applied to "Voice of Sonus faber" (the tweeter and midrange drivers) and around the woofers. The cabinet is asymmetric, allowing for versatile positioning of the speakers for efficient bass response tuning; the lack of flat and parallel walls also improves enclosure performance.
The tweeter in the Olympica Nova V features the DAD (Damped Apex Dome) technology on a 28mm silk dome diaphragm and a magnetic motor system that integrates "Neodymium Cap Design". The midrange transducer is derived from the Homage Tradition collection. The woofers feature a cone that benefits from an exclusive sandwich construction technique to provide fast and powerful sound reproduction while allowing total coherence with other drivers. The crossover network implements Paracross Topology that makes it less sensitive to radio-frequency interference. The filtering topology features new exclusive Sonus faber Clarity Cap capacitors.
Olympica Nova V is joined by six other models in the series: two smaller floorstanders, Olympica Nova III and Olympica Nova II, a bookshelf speaker, Olympica Nova I, two center channel speakers, Olympica Nova CII and Olympica Nova CI, and a wall-mount speaker, Olympica Nova W.

Reviewer score 72% (normalized by Neofiliac)Olympica Nova 5s deliver a very cultured, almost velvety view of the music, likely to impress with their sheer scale and lack of any obvious sonic nasties. With a change of pace to Muse's Drones the dense and full-on mix is delivered up with real impact, driven in particular by the bass and drums.
