Product Overview

Sonetto VIII is the flagship of the Sonetto series loudspeakers by Sonus faber. This floorstander features a 3-way bass-reflex design with three 180mm aluminum cone woofers.
Drawing upon timeless Italian tradition and craftsmanship, the Sonetto series combines them with the latest technological innovation. Despite being the most affordable line by the high-end HiFi manufacturer, the Sonetto series features many iconic elements from speakers further up the Sonus faber range:
From the Olympica Collection, the Sonetto VIII inherits a top in natural leather, hand-sewn and embellish by the Sonus faber logo.
The Sonetto series also employs the "Voice of Sonus faber", the iconic configuration of tweeter and midrange that features the DAD (Damped Apex Dome) tweeter technology and a midrange complete with the company's proprietary natural fiber cone, previously exclusive to Olympica, Homage, and Reference collections.
Other iconic elements of the brand include natural materials, the Lute shape, and pristine Italian hand-finished cabinets. The front baffle with curved sides is accented by gun-metal finished aluminium frames and a soft leather top. Solid aluminium is used throughout to provide solidity. Down-firing reflex ports allow for ease of placement and consistent bass output across listening environments.
Other loudspeakers in the Sonetto collection include two smaller floorstanders, Sonetto V and Sonetto III, two bookshelf speakers, Sonetto II and Sonetto I, two center channel speakers, Sonetto Center II and Sonetto Center I, and a wall-mount speaker, Sonetto Wall.

Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from theear have found:
The Sonetto VIII stands an inch under four feet tall and weighs nearly 58lbs. The driver array consists of three metal cone bass units, a smaller mixed material midrange and a larger than average soft dome tweeter. With solid state amplifiers this is not likely to be a problem but it may not suit single ended tube amps.
Pros
  • Impressive detail and dynamics
  • Impressive build quality
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Not as powerful as some rivals
