Product Overview

Canon PIXMA G1220 (G1520) is the entry-level consumer-grade ink tank printer in the MegaTank-series. Compared to more feature-rich models, the G1220 is print-only and lacks WiFi connectivity and the LED display.
Canon markets the printer as G1220 in the US and G1520 in the EU.
The PIXMA G1220 delivers low-cost color printing, thanks to its continuous ink supply system (CISS).
For models with scan and copy functions, Canon also markets the USB-only G2260 (G2560) and G2520 as well as the WiFi-enabled G3260 (G3560) and G3620.
For a richer feature set print-only ink tank printer, Canon offers the PIXMA G5020 (G5050).

pcmag[1]

Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
Canon rates the G1220 at 9.1 pages per minute (ppm) for black and 5ppm for color. If you print a lot of long documents or large photos, these speeds soon get tedious. It's also important to point out that this Pixma doesn't support automatic two-sided printing.
Pros
  • Low running costs
  • Good print quality
  • Two years' worth of ink
Cons
  • No automatic two-sided printing
  • Slow print quality

rtings[2]

Reviewer score 34% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from rtings have found:
The Canon PIXMA G1220 is mediocre for family use. It lacks a scanner, so it isn't ideal if you like digitizing photos or documents. It yields an outstanding number of pages, which results in a very low cost-per-print. While it provides good access to paper jams and ink tanks, its build quality is just okay.
Pros
  • Exceptional page yield for both black-only and color documents
  • Outstanding number of pages
  • Incredibly low cost-per-print
  • Well-built design
  • Excellent photo quality
Cons
  • No scanner
  • Can't print wirelessly
  • Doesn't have a scanner
