Product Overview

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano is a new addition to Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 series and the lightest ThinkPad ever at just under 2 lbs (907g) without sacrificing performance, thanks to the 11th-gen Intel Core processors on the Intel Evo platform.
The virtually-bezel-less 13-inch 2K display, four speakers, and four 360-degree microphones attest to the multimedia credential of the X1 Nano. The ultra-light, ultra-slim laptop also supports WiFi 6 and 5G (optional) for the latest high-performance wireless connectivity options.
Thanks to the latest Intel processor, the X1 Nano also supports Thunderbolt 4 for fast, single cable connection to power, monitors, storage and many other external devices.
It is also the first ThinkPad to feature an updated suite of AI and biometric ThinkShield security features, including new voice recognition and human presence detection that enable zero touch login and device lock when the user walks away to the familiar Match on Chip Fingerprint Reader.
In the same generation of ThinkPad X1-series lineup, Lenovo also markets the X1 Extreme Gen 3, X1 Carbon Gen 8, the 2-in-1 X1 Yoga Gen 5, and the foldable X1 Fold.

External Reviews

digitaltrends[1]

Reviewer score 89% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
The ThinkPad X1 Nano's keyboard feel is the best I've experienced on a ThinkPad. The touchpad is a Microsoft Precision version, making for a precise tracking experience. Windows 10 Hello support is provided by both a fingerprint reader immediately to the right of the touchpad and an infrared camera up top for facial recognition.
Pros
  • Excellent productivity performance
  • Long battery life
  • Solid build quality
  • Good keyboard
Cons
  • Lackluster performance
  • No Thunderbolt 3

gizmodo[2]

Reviewer score 83% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from gizmodo have found:
True Lenovo fans will enjoy the backlit scissor-lift keyboard familiar across the ThinkPad line. The keyboard has three levels of backlighting, from dim to bright. The laptop has a full trackpad as well as the traditional ThinkPad TrackPoint nubbin at the center of the keyboard.
Pros
  • Gorgeous 13-inch screen
  • Excellent keyboard and trackpad
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Dim display
  • No touchpad

laptopmag[3]

Reviewer score 91% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from laptopmag have found:
The ThinkPad X1 Nano's 720p camera is decent at best. The 13-inch, 2K display is sharp and bright to type on. Ports are limited to a pair of USB-zels, and the keyboard could be thinner. If you've wanted a smaller laptop for everyday consumers, the X1 Carbon is better.
Pros
  • Sleek, lightweight design
  • Strong performance
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No IR camera or fingerprint sensor

notebookcheck[4]

Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
Lenovo's new ThinkPad X1 Nano is an extremely lightweight 13-inch laptop with a very good 16:10 screen. The battery runtimes are decent, but the difference between the Wi-Fi test (~10 hours) and the video test (~15 hours) at 150 nits each is pretty substantial. The keyboard offers a precise typing experience compared to any other ThinkPad.
Pros
  • Very good 16:10 screen
  • Very good battery runtimes
  • Decent keyboard
Cons
  • No maintenance options
  • No Kensington Lock

pcmag[5]

Reviewer score 81% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The ThinkPad X1 Nano easily cleared the 4,000 PCMark 10 points that indicate outstanding productivity for Microsoft Office or Google Docs. You won't mistake it for a high-end workstation, but we don't know of any two-pound workstations. The Lenovo finished in the middle of the pack in our processing tests.
Pros
  • Sleek, light design
  • Long battery life
  • Full-size USB-C port
Cons
  • No Thunderbolt 3 port

t3[6]

Reviewer score 78% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from t3 have found:
The X1 Nano is a small, light and compact package that packs a surprising punch. Although it can't handle gaming, it would chew through most modern office tasks without breaking a sweat. The screen is bright, the keyboard is great and the battery life is excellent. The only thing that gives us pause is the price: at $1499 and up, it is at the top of the price range for ultra-lite laptops.
Pros
  • Great screen
  • Excellent battery life
  • Great keyboard
Cons
  • No Thunderbolt 3

techradar[7]

Reviewer score 90% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The keyboard is your typical chicklet-style keyboard with a pointer button in the center. The Trackpad on the X1 Nano is rather small, with separate left, middle, and right buttons along the top. There are four speakers, two top-firing tweeters and two-bottom firing woofers. Throw in Dolby Atmos certification and you have some great sounding speakers for a laptop.
Pros
  • Powerful Intel Core i7-1160G7 processor
  • Comfortable keyboard
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No IR camera

theverge[8]

Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from theverge have found:
The ThinkPad X1 Nano is a thin and light business laptop from Lenovo. The screen is sharper than a 1080p display, and it delivers a nice picture. You can personalize the four-microphone array for different uses, including conference calls. The port selection is also limited, though that's not unique among thin devices.
Pros
  • Lightweight and light
  • Excellent battery life
  • Dolby Atmos speaker system
Cons
  • Limited port selection

tomsguide[9]

Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from tomsguide have found:
The X1 Nano comes packed with Intel Iris Xe Graphics, which is the baseline integrated graphics chip that most Intel CPUs come packed with nowadays. It took 16 minutes and 15 seconds to transcode a 4K video to 1080p on our HandBrake benchmark. The battery life is nothing to be worried about if you need to lug your laptop to and from work.
Pros
  • Bright, colorful 2K display
  • Solid performance
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Lackluster speakers
  • Poor webcam

tomshardware[10]

Reviewer score 91% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from tomshardware have found:
The ThinkPad X1 Nano has its RAM soldered to the motherboard so there's no way to upgrade it. Lenovo Commercial Vantage is the general-purpose control panel software. As most peripherals, including thumb drives, still use USB Type-A, you'll be carrying dongles.
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Svelte keyboard
  • Solid performance
Cons
  • Limited port selection
