Battery life and performance isn't outstanding, but it's above where you might expect a laptop of this size and weight to be. The only thing that might put most people off is the rather high price – starting at around £1,400.

With 56Wh of capacity, Huawei estimates its laptop will last between 11 and 15 hours on a single charge. The large, squarer display gives you lots of room to work with as you write or edit, and might be just the thing you're looking for if you want something that's got the dimensions of a 13-inch laptop.

Reviewer score 85%The MateBook X Pro 2020 boasts a 13.9-inch display. It has a sharp, if not quite 4K, 3000 x 2000 resolution, tiny bezels and the display is touch-enabled. Colours are bright and vivid, black levels are decent, and the brightness levels just about matched those of my MacBook Pro. The only thing that stops this display from being class-leading is that it's super-reflective.
