Genesis GV80 Midsize Crossover

Product Overview
The Genesis GV80 is a midsize luxury crossover, the first such vehicle in the brand's vehicle lineup. Built on the same platform as the 3rd-gen Genesis G80, the GV80 shares the two petrol engines with the G80, while an inline-6 diesel is also available.
Unlike most crossovers in the segment, the GV80 is based on a RWD platform and is available with RWD drivetrain layout for all engine options.
The GV80 shares with the G80 many design features, such as the marque's Crest Grille, the Quad Lamps, and the Parabolic Line. Inside, it again resembles the G80 sedan. The myriad of driver assist functions, packaged in the Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), is also shared with the G80.

Reviewer score 48%The bigger-booted version can swallow up to 735 litres of cargo with the third-row seats folded down. The SUV feels even more softly sprung and comfort-biased than the lower, leaner saloon. The steering is medium-paced but light and slightly woolly in feel, the brake pedal likewise big on power assistance.

Pros
- Looks and feels like a luxury car
- Comfortable to drive
- Lots of standard equipment
Cons
- Not the most comfortable to drive
autoexpress[2]
Reviewer score 70%Genesis has won awards in the few markets it already exists in - notably the US - for quality. The whole Genesis experience, with a new way of buying, is expected to appeal as much as the cars themselves. Everything is done online or via Genesis ‘Studios' that won't be traditional dealerships, they'll be shopfronts in upmarket shopping centres.

Pros
- Sleek styling
- Excellent infotainment system
Cons
- Fiddly ride
- Lack of low-speed ride finesse

Reviewer score 74%The 2.5T's cabin remains posh, original and very well equipped. While you can't get all the luxury fixins found in the V6 model, the GV80's interior still feels upscale. The extra power -- 375 hp and 391 lb-ft -- and refinement makes the six-cylinder engine a worthy upgrade.

Pros
- Powerful six-cylinder engine
- Lots of standard equipment
- Decent ride quality
Cons
- Slightly heavier than V6 models
- Lack of infotainment tech
cnet[4]
Reviewer score 84% Genesis' 2.5-liter inline-four puts out 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. The GV80's ride is nicely controlled, and there's a noticeable difference between the different suspension settings. There's enough room in the back for an average SUV's worth of groceries and luggage.

Pros
- Excellent infotainment and safety tech
- Superb interior
- Comfortable to drive
Cons
- No V6 option
cnet[5]
Reviewer score 73%From its muted growl at full throttle to its supple, direct steering, the GV80 is a zen cocoon. The V6 has 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque, enough to sling this sled to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. No matter which trim you opt for, there's a full suite of advanced driver assist systems.

Pros
- Powerful V6
- Excellent infotainment system
- Comfortable ride
Cons
- Lacklustre fuel economy
- No hybrid option
cnet[6]
Reviewer score 77%Luxury continues to be the priority when looking at other parts of the driving experience. The cabin is plenty quiet, thanks in part to thick glass and an active noise-cancellation system. Fuel economy is competitive for the GV80's class, but outside of that bubble, it's not all that.

Pros
- Gorgeous interior
- Fantastic infotainment system
- Excellent fuel economy
Cons
- Lane-centering tech can be a little aggressive
