Product Overview
The 3rd-gen Genesis G80 (2nd-gen since the brand became independent) presents the brand's "Atheltic Elegance" design language. A midsize luxury sedan, the G80 features an all-new platform shared with the GV80.
The Genesis G80 sports the brand's Crest Grille and double-lined Quad Lamps. The Parabolic Line, the key feature of its side profile, begins at the front Quad Lamp and gradually runs lower to the rear through the top of the door. At the rear, the sloping decklid and rear Quad Lamps visually link to those in front. Chrome decor at the top of the trunk stretches the full-width repeating the theme of the Genesis emblem, while the dual exhaust finishers reference the Crest Grill design.
Inside, the steering wheel and sleek, thin air vents run across the passenger compartment splitting it into the panoramic area above and the control area below.
In terms of technology, the G80 features Hyundai's state-of-the-art advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), which includes Highway Driving Assist II (HDA II), Smart Cruise Control with Machine Learning (SCC-ML), Pre active Safety Seat (PSS), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), and Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist (BCA).

The G80 represents most of them impressively well but, at heart, it isn't really a bold or innovative luxury car all; it's a conventional saloon with some interesting technology on it. All cars are steel-coil-sprung and get active dampers managed by cameras that read the road surface up ahead.

The fit and finish of the G80 certainly passes muster in this hard-fought sector. But the car doesn't possess the full breadth of skills to beat very best in class. The ride is a little firm which compromises comfort and the lack of an electrified model at launch means rivals are more efficient.

The drooping rear end makes the G80 look like a hatchback, but it's actually a saloon with a 424-litre boot. The interior is the most compelling aspect of the new Genesis cars.

Reviewer score 83% (normalized by Neofiliac)The 2.5-liter I4 is good for 300 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. The eight-speed automatic transmission does a great job delivering this thrust. The G80 looks stunning, with LED lights at all four corners. No matter the engine, the G80's cabin is fantastic.
