digitaltrends[1]
Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)The ROG Phone 3 is one of the best multimedia phones available. Video is superb due to the phone's excellent screen and speakers. However, you won't have a use for the many game-centric features, and may miss a better camera. If you want a phone that's an all-rounder, the $900 OnePlus 8 Pro has good gaming credentials and masses of power.
Pros
- Gorgeous display
- Excellent battery life
- Excellent gaming performance
Cons
- No wireless charging
- No waterproofing
gsmarena[2]
Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)The ROG Phone 3 is generally more accommodating and flexible when it comes to enabling high refresh rates on demand, regardless of what game or app you are using. Still, it has certain idiosyncrasies of its own that might require further work. For one, it outright refused to run the GFXBench and AnTuTu apps in anything other than its maximum 144Hz refresh rate mode.
Pros
- High refresh rate
- Very good battery life
- Excellent performance across the board
- Excellent cooling solution
Cons
- X Mode throttling is an inevitability
- No GFXBench or AnTuTu apps in 60Hz mode
nextpit[3]
Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)The ROG Phone 3 offers once again one of the largest capacity batteries on the market with a 6,000 mAh rating. There is no telephoto lens included, where the Sony IMX686 main sensor handles up to 2x zoom and up to 10x in digital zoom. The ultra-wide-angle is consistent with the main sensor in terms of colorimetry.
Pros
- Excellent battery life
- Dual-screen display
- Long-lasting battery
Cons
- No telephoto lens
- No optical stabilization
- No microSD card slot
notebookcheck[4]
Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Asus ROG Phone 3 is powered by the Snapdragon 865+ and has 12 GB of LPDDR5 working memory in our test version. The Plus model has the stronger Prime core with up to 3.1 GHz (SD865: max. 2.84 GHz) This is particularly noticeable in the benchmarks due to a higher single-core performance, which is around 9% higher.
Pros
- Fast SoC
- Long battery life
- Decent performance
Cons
- High price
- Slow SoC
pcmag[5]
Reviewer score 89% (normalized by Neofiliac)The ROG Phone 3 is made for gaming, so we subjected it to hours of testing with Asphalt 8: Airborne and PUBG: Mobile. The screen is so bright and clear that you feel like you could fall through it and into the game world. At $1,000, it's not cheap, but it's the rarefied world of gaming phones.
Pros
- Super-smooth, ultra-low-latency display
- Excellent audio quality
- Great battery life
Cons
- No wireless charging
- No headphone jack
tomsguide[6]
Reviewer score 65% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Asus ROG Phone 3 runs demanding Android games beautifully. X Mode is a way to sort of supercharge the system specs at the cost of heat output and battery power. The phone supports 5G from most GSM-based networks in the United States, including AT&T and T-Mobile.
Pros
- Gorgeous design
- Excellent battery life
- Good camera
Cons
- No wireless charging
- Very expensive
