Sony SRS-XB33 EXTRA BASS
Wireless SpeakerProduct Gallery
Product Overview
Sony SRS-XB33 is a dust and water proof wireless speaker in the company's EXTRA BASS lineup. It offers deep, punchy bass, thanks to Sony's new, non-circular X-Balanced Speaker Unit with dual side passive radiators.
Unlike conventional speaker units with a circular diaphragm, the non-circular X-Balanced Speaker Unit in the SRS-XB33 maximizes the area of the diaphragm and reduces driver excursion, resulting in lower distortion and greater clarity.
Thanks to Party Connect, owners can connect up to 100 compatible wireless speakers via Bluetooth to sync not only music but also lighting.

External Reviews
pcmag[1]
Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)The SRS-XB33 delivers a bass-forward, crisp sound that will still appeal to many listeners without any EQ tweaks. At maxed-out volume levels, there's no distortion, and still a very healthy sense of bass depth. There's still some typical Bluetooth distortion in the mix, but the mic signal is strong.
Pros
- Powerful audio performance with rich bass depth and crisp highs
- Water-resistant build
- USB-C charging
Cons
- Bass depth gets thinned out at higher volumes
rtings[2]
Reviewer score 15% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Sony SRS-XB33 is mediocre for music. It has an uneven sound profile and even with its 'EXTRA BASS' mode on, it lacks a thumpy, rumbly low-bass. Vocals and lead instruments sound a bit veiled and dull. Its soundstage is still perceived as narrow, and it doesn't get very loud.
Pros
- Feels sturdy, durable design
- Good battery life
- Low latency on iOS and Android
- Decent audio reproduction
- Very portable
Cons
- Doesn't get very loud
- Lacks a thumpy, rumbly low-bass
- Mediocre soundstage
- No compression artifacts at max volume
techradar[3]
Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Sony SRS-XB33 boasts a powerful sound, deep punchy bass, and decent clarity. It has dual passive radiators and the promise of Sony's Extra Bass, which means the lowest frequencies are very much where the attention lies. Bold rich bass means you can't help but feel thrilled at what comes up next on your playlist. It does a fairly good job of maintaining clarity and clearness at higher volumes, which we certainly appreciated.
Pros
- Powerful bass
- Solid build quality
- Easy to use
Cons
- Bassy tone at high volumes
whathifi[4]

Pros
- Punchy, dynamic sound
- Excellent battery life
Cons
- No extra bass
