Sony SRS-XB43 EXTRA BASS
Wireless SpeakerProduct Gallery
Product Overview
Sony SRS-XB43 is a powerful wireless speaker in the company's EXTRA BASS lineup. It offers deep, punchy bass, thanks to Sony's new, non-circular X-Balanced Speaker Unit with dual side passive radiators.
Unlike conventional speaker units with a circular diaphragm, the X-Balanced Speaker Unit in the SRS-XB43 features a quasi-rectangular diaphragm. It maximizes the area of the diaphragm and reduces driver excursion, resulting in lower distortion and greater clarity.
The two-way wireless speaker is IP67 dust and water proof; it is also salt water resistant.
Thanks to Party Connect, owners can connect up to 100 compatible wireless speakers via Bluetooth to sync not only music but also lighting.

External Reviews
pcmag[1]
Reviewer score 83% (normalized by Neofiliac)The SRS-XB43 has an IP67 rating, which is excellent for a portable speaker. It can withstand exposure to dirt and dust, and is waterproof up to 3.2 feet. The bass is still robust, and at top volume levels, it doesn't distort or thin out too much.
Pros
- Powerful bass depth and sculpted treble
- Water-resistant build
- USB-C and USB-A ports
Cons
- Sculpted sound signature favors bass and treble over mids
rtings[2]
Reviewer score 25% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Sony XB43 has a balanced mid-range that's suitable for dialogue-centric content. Its underemphasized treble can make higher frequencies sound dull or veiled. It struggles to reproduce low-bass, even with its EXTRA BASS setting turned on. Its soundstage is narrow and directional, which doesn't create a very immersive listening experience.
Pros
- Graphic EQ in the Sony Music Center app
- Stable mid-range
- Good battery life
Cons
- Lacks low-bass
- No built-in voice assistant
- Some compression present when you play it at max volume
