notebookcheck[1]
Reviewer score 62% (normalized by Neofiliac)The MediaTek Helio G85 in the Redmi Note 9 is produced in the 12-nanometer FinFET process and has eight CPU cores in two clusters. In everyday operation, the new mid-range processor in combination with 3 GB of RAM ensure a decent system performance. But due to the eMMC storage, the load times of applications are long.
Pros
- High-contrast IPS display
- Good battery life
- Fast SoC
- Fast Wi-Fi
Cons
- Mediocre camera performance
- High price
techadvisor[2]
Reviewer score 72% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Redmi Note 9 is a fantastic smartphone below £200. It ticks a great many boxes and, though it isn't flawless, you'll be hard-pushed to find better value. Though it's plastic it is well designed, and comes with a quad-lens camera that performed mostly well in tests. There's enough power for casual users, though we had hoped for better performance from the 5.020-capacity battery.
Pros
- Fantastic battery life
- Great cameras
Cons
- Poor low-light performance
- Mediocre camera
techradar[3]
Reviewer score 59% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 isn't a particularly hot performer. You don't get the Snapdragon 665 CPU that key rivals such as the Moto G8 do. Instead, this phone is fitted out with the cheaper MediaTek Helio G85. MIUI 12 has sharpened up the spacing and shaping of its icons. However, it's still far from the best Android skin.
Pros
- Decent battery life
- Decent performance
- Good value for money
Cons
- Middling camera performance
- No NFC
trustedreviews[4]
Reviewer score 67% (normalized by Neofiliac)Running with a MediaTek Helio G85, the Redmi Note 9 is anything but a powerhouse. In real-world use, however, the Note 9 delivers respectable performance given the price and additional specs on offer. Photos are quick to take and working across multiple apps was smooth most of the time. Xiaomi’s software is still a compromise on one too many levels.
Pros
- Great value for money
- Great battery life
- Fast charging
Cons
- Middling camera performance
- Middling performance
