pcmag[1]

Sentiment Score 88%
Reviewers from pcmag have found the following***:
Even for a gimmick, the light show offered by the Pulse 4 is impressive. JBL estimates battery life to be roughly 12 hours, but your results will vary with volume levels, and use of the LEDs. On tracks with intense sub-bass content, like The Knife's "Silent Shout," the speaker reproduces some convincing low-frequency depth. For the price, we like the audio output of the JBL Charge 4 and the Sony S-XB32.

Pros
  • Powerful audio performance with deep bass depth and sculpted highs
  • Powerful passive radiator
Cons
  • No EQ
  • No IPX7 build

rtings[2]

Sentiment Score 40%
Reviewers from rtings have found the following***:
The JBL Pulse 4 has acceptable performance for music. It has a well-balanced mid-range, so it can accurately reproduce vocals and lead instruments. However, it lacks low-bass, and its treble range is slightly underemphasized. While it has to downmix stereo content into mono, it has outstanding directivity, resulting in a wide and open soundstage.

Pros
  • Well-balanced mid-range
  • Wide and open soundstage
  • Outstanding directivity
  • Good build quality
  • Well-baked mid-rhyme
Cons
  • Lacks low-bass
  • No voice assistant support
  • Doesn't get very loud

techradar[3]

Sentiment Score 78%
Reviewers from techradar have found the following***:
The JBL Pulse 4 follows the excellent Pulse 3 wireless party speaker. The Pulse 4 retains the same balanced sound and 360-degree sound but ditches the microphone. The speaker's controls are located on the top ring and the buttons are big and easy to use. For $50 more, you can get the more powerful and feature packed Sony SRS-XB501G.

Pros
  • Unique design
  • Excellent app
  • Great sound quality
  • Great battery life
Cons
  • No aux jack
  • Small woofer

trustedreviews[4]

Sentiment Score 68%
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found the following***:
The JBL Pulse 4 boasts an impressive wireless range of 80ft. The light show can be personalised through the app, with colour schemes available from a wide pallet. At 20W of output it’s capable of doing a job even in larger rooms. The lack of a built-in microphone is the biggest disappointment.

Pros
  • Attractive design
  • Excellent sound quality
  • Decent battery life
Cons
  • No Alexa or Google Assistant support
  • No built-in microphone
