pcmag[1]

Sentiment Score 81%
Reviewers from pcmag have found the following***:
There's not going to be super-powerful sub-bass here, but the system does a good job of pushing out rich low and low-mid bass depth to make up for this. The ends of the speaker house passive bass radiators that push out quite a bit of low-end. JBL estimates the Flip 5's battery life to be roughly 12 hours, but your results will vary with your volume levels.

Pros
  • Powerful audio performance with rich bass depth and sculpted highs
  • Waterproof design
  • IPX7 rating
Cons
  • No speakerphone function

rtings[2]

Sentiment Score 18%
Reviewers from rtings have found the following***:
The JBL FLIP 5 has a boomy sound profile that struggles to reproduce low-bass, so genres like EDM lack thump and rumble. Its treble range is also a bit underemphasized, so sibilants like cymbals sound a little dull. This speaker doesn't have an EQ either, and it doesn't get very loud.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Well-built and portable design
  • Wide soundstage
  • Good battery life
  • Great build quality
Cons
  • Struggles to reproduce low-bass
  • Doesn't get very loud
  • Lacks an EQ

techradar[3]

Sentiment Score 87%
Reviewers from techradar have found the following***:
Just half a kilo / one pound and the size of a small thermal flask, the compact yet robust Flip 5 can be easily carried in a hand or slipped into a bag. IPX7 waterproof rating means it can be immersed in water up to a meter deep for a maximum of 30 minutes. JBL has decided not to equip the Flip 5 with an AUX socket for hardwiring a smartphone or alternative audio device.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Excellent sound quality
  • Easy to use
  • IPX7 waterproof rating
Cons
  • No AUX socket
  • No built-in microphone

tomsguide[4]

Sentiment Score 81%
Reviewers from tomsguide have found the following***:
The JBL Flip 5 improves its sound a bit and changes the charging port to USB-C. Compared to the Flip 4, the Flip 5 has more bass and spreads the sound slightly wider. It uses Bluetooth 4.2 instead of the latest standard, 5.0. The Flip 5 gets plenty loud, measuring about 96 decibels at max volume.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Good sound
  • Easy-to-carry design
  • USB-C charging
Cons
  • No EQ or sound modes

trustedreviews[5]

Sentiment Score 84%
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found the following***:
The JBL Flip 5 is a compact and lightweight cylindrical-shaped speaker. It looks a bit like the Ultimate Ears Boom 3, but with more of a curve to it. The speaker can be positioned upright or on its side, thanks to a flat rubber panel. It is waterproof up to IPX7, meaning it can handle being submerged in one metre of water for up to 30 minutes.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Excellent tonal balance
  • Easy to use
  • Great battery life
Cons
  • No wireless or fast charging
  • No microphone

whathifi[6]

Sentiment Score 84%
Reviewers from whathifi have found the following***:
JBL claims the Flip 5 is waterproof to an IPX7 rating. This means you should be able to submerge it in water at a depth of one metre for 30 minutes. There's no cover for the USB-C charging port and though it is waterproofed, it isn't tested against salt or sand ingress at the beach. Pairing is a breeze, and the connection never falters.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Powerful bass
  • Solid build quality
  • Excellent battery life
Cons
  • No aux-in port or mic
  • No EQ settings
