External Reviews
digitaltrends[1]
Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)The $350 Bose Portable Home Speaker manages to balance portability, ruggedness, sound quality, and smart speaker features in a single well-designed product. Despite the excellent mic array, there's no speakerphone function and no Bluetooth stereo-pairing, both of which are offered on the company's dedicated Bluetooth speakers. Sonos' new $399 Move speaker is a direct competitor and it also lacks these features when in Bluetooth mode. The Ultimate Ears Megablast gives you Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and longer battery life, but it's Alexa-only.
Pros
- Gorgeous 360-degree sound
- Great battery life
- Easy to use
Cons
- No speakerphone
- No Bluetooth stereo-pairing

Reviewer score 68% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Bose Portable Home Speaker is one of the more intuitive smart models we've tested. While it delivers impressive power for its size, the overall audio experience isn't perfect. If you're looking for a stronger audio experience from a smart speaker, consider the $400 Marshall Stanmore II.
Pros
- Powerful audio performance
- Powerful Alexa and Google Assistant voice control
- Easy to set up
Cons
- Lacks bass depth
techadvisor[3]
Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Bose Portable Home Speaker is part of Bose's smart speaker range. It has built-in support for both the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Sound is strong, and both the battery life and design impress. I just wish the smart support was a little less patchy and for the charging cradle to be a little cheaper.
Pros
- Great sound quality
- Great battery life
- Built-in Wi-Fi
Cons
- No Google Play or YouTube Music support
- Bass isn’t the best
techradar[4]
Reviewer score 78% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Bose Portable Home Speaker is a smart speaker with both Google Assistant and Alexa built-in. It can play music from Spotify, Deezer, YouTube, Amazon Music, TuneIn, and more, as well as AirPlay 2 for iPhone and iPad users. It has a 12-hour battery life from a single charge, but this pales in comparison to the 24 hours offered by the Tribit XSound Go.
Pros
- Gorgeous design
- Well-balanced soundstage
- Alexa built-in
Cons
- No AUX connectivity
tomsguide[5]
Reviewer score 52% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Bose Portable Home Speaker pairs with either Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for voice control. On Wi-Fi, you can use the Bose Music app, Airplay 2 or Spotify Connect to control your soundtrack. The speaker is rated IPX 4, meaning it can withstand a simple splash but not much else.
Pros
- Great sound quality
- Works with Alexa and Google Assistant
- Good battery life
Cons
- Doesn't support Drop In
- No Drop In
