gizmodo[1]

Sentiment Score 59%
Reviewers from gizmodo have found the following***:
The G8X features a high-res 32-MP selfie camera in front, along with two cams in back: a 12-MP main cam, and a 13-MP ultra-wide cam with a 136-degree field of view. LG says running both displays at once only sucks up an extra 20 to 25 percent of the phone's juice. Despite Android 10 being released in early September, almost three months later, the G8x is launching with the older Android 9 Pie.

Pros
  • Gorgeous second screen
  • Good battery life
  • Good cameras
Cons
  • Dual Screen is awkward
  • No face unlock

cnet[2]

Sentiment Score 74%
Reviewers from cnet have found the following***:
LG's G8X ThinQ doubles its screen size by opening like a book. The phone is available unlocked or through AT&T and Sprint. It's quite clunky to carry around and you won't be able to watch videos on a seamless, single tablet-esque screen.

Pros
  • Gorgeous second screen
  • Long battery life
  • Good photos
Cons
  • Cumbersome dual-screen case
  • Expensive for what you get

digitaltrends[3]

Sentiment Score 61%
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found the following***:
The LG G8X ThinQ is available starting November 1, and it costs $700. The case and phone comes as a package deal, and at this price, it's good value. It's a quirky device that stands out, mostly for its size and looks, but doesn't nail the camera or software experience the way other phones do.

Pros
  • Unique Dual Screen design
  • Excellent camera performance
  • Excellent battery life
Cons
  • No IP68 rating
  • No wireless charging

nextpit[4]

Sentiment Score 54%
Reviewers from nextpit have found the following***:
The software interface of the LG G8X ThinQ is pleasant to use. The animations are fast and the smartphone responds without too many problems. LG does not really offer many software possibilities for managing both displays. With 32 megapixels, the front camera offers a much higher resolution and it is more than enough to capture good selfies.

Pros
  • Good battery life
  • Good cameras
  • Fast charging
Cons
  • No 3.5mm headphone jack

notebookcheck[5]

Sentiment Score 63%
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found the following***:
The G8X ThinQ has two 6.4-inch AMOLED displays that resolve natively at 2340x1080. While the main display gets comparatively bright, it is not that colour accurate. Reflections will prove its downfall on sunny days again though, so we would recommend finding a shady spot from which to read the screen, if possible.

Pros
  • Bright AMOLED display
  • Good battery life
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Mediocre cameras

pcmag[6]

Sentiment Score 68%
Reviewers from pcmag have found the following***:
The LG G8X ThinQ is a solid phone for the price, with good performance, battery life, and camera quality. The Dual Screen attachment makes it large and unwieldy, drains fast, and introduces bugs you don't encounter when using the phone on its own. If you really want to own a folding phone, we recommend the G8 over the Samsung Galaxy Fold or the Huawei Mate X.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Solid performance
  • Solid battery life
  • Dual Screen cover
  • Good cameras
Cons
  • Bloatware
  • No Android 10

phonearena[7]

Sentiment Score 57%
Reviewers from phonearena have found the following***:
The LG G8X costs just $700, and with its DualScreen accessory, it provides more screen space than you've ever been able to put in your pocket. The in-display fingerprint reader is one of the slowest readers of this kind I've tested and reliability isn't great either. There's no face recognition of any kind which is a shame when the G8's face recognition worked really well.

Pros
  • Dual Screen is great for multitasking
  • Long battery life
Cons
  • In-display fingerprint reader is slow
  • No face recognition

techadvisor[8]

Sentiment Score 68%
Reviewers from techadvisor have found the following***:
The G8X is a fairly dull flagship for 2019 - decent specs and drab design combine for a handset that shouldn't disappoint but won't do much to excite either. For those intrigued by the possibilities of a second screen however, the G8x Dual Screen proves that LG might be onto something here. The bigger panel, better hinge, and front-facing notification display fix every pain point that accompanied the V50, meaning there's less to get in the way. The camera is undeniably a disappointment - especially the blurry, wide-angle lens - but the battery life is brilliant. Throw in wireless charging and waterproofing and the $700 price begins to look like a steal.

Pros
  • Gorgeous dual screen
  • Great battery life
  • Foldable hinge
Cons
  • Dull design
  • No wireless charging

techradar[9]

Sentiment Score 69%
Reviewers from techradar have found the following***:
The LG G8X plus the LG Dual Screen is a great deal for its price. If you balked at pricey foldables but were intrigued by the possibility of having more screen real estate to play with, this is an affordable way to get a taste of that life. It isn't quite on par with the leading Android phones in terms of RAM or in-the-box storage - nor does it have the same level of polish and features.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Sleek, lightweight design
  • Folds up to just 4.6-inch outer screen
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Not as powerful as the G8X
  • Screen is not as seamless as glass

tomsguide[10]

Sentiment Score 75%
Reviewers from tomsguide have found the following***:
The G8X's front-facing camera is especially important, because it's the only lens that's really available when the phone is in the Dual-Screen case. The second display obscures both rear cameras, so when the cover is on, you're essentially forced to shoot using that extra panel as the viewfinder, while the main display faces the subject. Ultimately, though, this camera isn't as versatile as you'd hope.

Pros
  • Solid performance
  • Dual-Screen case is a nice addition
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Camera isn't as versatile as you'd hope
  • No headphone jack

Reviewers from tomsguide have found the following***:
With the G8X ThinQ Dual Screen, you get not one but two 6.4-inch, 2340 x 1080 OLED displays. The displays are identical, so hopefully as you use the phone and it ages, the screens will age at the same rate to keep the viewing experience consistent. Both displays are absolutely gorgeous and just bursting with color.

Pros
  • Gorgeous dual screens
  • Beautiful design
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No stylus
  • No wireless charging

Reviewers from trustedreviews have found the following***:
The LG G8X ThinQ has two rear cameras, an ultra-wide and a standard one. There’s no zoom camera, and I do miss it. The central hardware of the main camera is a match for the Pixel 4XL, but is the image quality? Not quite. The dual screen drains the battery as it does not have a power source of its own.

Pros
  • Gorgeous display
  • Great battery life
  • Great cameras
Cons
  • Dual screen isn’t for everyone
  • No microSD card slot

wired[13]

Sentiment Score 74%
Reviewers from wired have found the following***:
LG's G8X has an in-display (optical) fingerprint scanner under the screen. It's not as speedy as a normal fingerprint scanner, but it's quick enough to not ruin the experience. Without the Dual Screen case, the 4,000-mAh cell barely lasts a full day.

Pros
  • Foldable design
  • Good battery life
  • Solid performance
  • Dual Screen case
Cons
  • No IP68 water resistance
  • No headphone jack
