LG G8X ThinQ is a premium smartphone that features large FHD+ OLED display. The LG Dual Screen adds an additional 6.4" OLED display with a 360-degree hinge that allows viewing at any angle as well as a 2.1" Cover Display (mono).
Following LG's tradition, there's a 32-bit HiFi Quad DAC and a mini-stereo (headphone) jack (3.5mm).

LG says running both displays at once only sucks up an extra 20 to 25 percent of the phone's juice. Despite Android 10 being released in early September, almost three months later, the G8x is launching with the older Android 9 Pie.

LG does not really offer many software possibilities for managing both displays. With 32 megapixels, the front camera offers a much higher resolution and it is more than enough to capture good selfies.

While the main display gets comparatively bright, it is not that colour accurate. Reflections will prove its downfall on sunny days again though, so we would recommend finding a shady spot from which to read the screen, if possible.

The Dual Screen attachment makes it large and unwieldy, drains fast, and introduces bugs you don't encounter when using the phone on its own. If you really want to own a folding phone, we recommend the G8 over the Samsung Galaxy Fold or the Huawei Mate X.

The in-display fingerprint reader is one of the slowest readers of this kind I've tested and reliability isn't great either. There's no face recognition of any kind which is a shame when the G8's face recognition worked really well.

For those intrigued by the possibilities of a second screen however, the G8x Dual Screen proves that LG might be onto something here. The bigger panel, better hinge, and front-facing notification display fix every pain point that accompanied the V50, meaning there's less to get in the way. The camera is undeniably a disappointment - especially the blurry, wide-angle lens - but the battery life is brilliant. Throw in wireless charging and waterproofing and the $700 price begins to look like a steal.

If you balked at pricey foldables but were intrigued by the possibility of having more screen real estate to play with, this is an affordable way to get a taste of that life. It isn't quite on par with the leading Android phones in terms of RAM or in-the-box storage - nor does it have the same level of polish and features.

The second display obscures both rear cameras, so when the cover is on, you're essentially forced to shoot using that extra panel as the viewfinder, while the main display faces the subject. Ultimately, though, this camera isn't as versatile as you'd hope.
