Product Overview

McLaren 720S Spider is a high-performance convertible sports car in production from 2019. It is available with several tunes of McLaren's bi-turbo V8 engine that displaced 4.0 liters.
Compared to the coupe on which it is based, the hardtop convertible is equally aggressive but offers an option to willow on the country roads.
Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the McLaren 720S Spider comes with double-wishbone suspensions at all four corners.

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 100% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
The McLaren 720S Spider is the latest in the company's open-top supercar line. The car has a top speed of 202mph and a 0-62mph time of 2.9sec. It weighs just 1332kg dry, which is lighter than the current class featherweight, the 1420kg Ferrari 488 Spider.
Pros
  • Impressive handling
  • Impressive powertrain
  • Superb ride quality
Cons
  • Slightly heavier than the coupé

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 97% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The McLaren 720S Spider is a five-star superstar. Performance is just as incredible as in the fixed-roof car, with 0-60mph gone in 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 212mph. The party piece is the 720S's single-piece carbon-fibre roof that can disappear behind you in just 11 seconds at speeds of up to 31mph.
Pros
  • Impressive performance
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Impressive ride quality
Cons
  • Infotainment system could be better
  • Lack of connectivity

carmagazine[3]

Reviewer score 100% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
It's the first McLaren Spider whose tub includes a carbon upper structure. It allows for the Coupe's ultra-slim A-pillars to be retained. New glazed flying buttresses also aid all-round visibility. New rollover protection system is now mostly carbon, not steel. Also new is the folding roof, with a one-piece carbon fibre roof panel. Roof-up, it's quiet, too: quieter inside than a 650S Coupé.
Pros
  • Class-leading all-round performance
  • Powerful V8
  • Comfortable ride
Cons
  • Fiddly infotainment system

cnet[4]

Reviewer score 98% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cnet have found:
The McLaren 720S is as lovely to drive on smooth ribbons of pavement as it is on crummy, pockmarked streets. There's a real jolt of power that hits you after the initial turbo lag, and the engine happily hangs on near its 8,000-rpm redline. Even Roadshow's Detroit-based editors find the 720S to be a surprisingly supple affair.
Pros
  • Powerful engine
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Excellent infotainment
Cons
  • Expensive for what you get
  • No Android Auto or Apple CarPlay
