autoexpress[1]

Sentiment Score 51%
Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The new BMW M8 Competition is a sports car of vast ability. In simple terms it's the fastest production car BMW has ever produced. It's also one of the brand's most sophisticated models thus far. The engine, though massively potent, feels like it belongs in a refined GT rather than an out-and-out sports car.

Pros
  • Powerful engine
  • Impressive acceleration
  • Superb infotainment system
Cons
  • Lack of refinement
  • Somewhat industrial

autoexpress[2]

Sentiment Score 73%
Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The new 8 Series was always intended to be offered as a cabriolet, too, as well as a coupé and four-door Gran Coupé. The standard 8 Series Convertible's design is beefed up with enlarged front intakes, side gills, quad tailpipes at the back and a set of 20-inch forged alloy wheels. The M8 isn't without criticism, the exhaust doesn't quite live up to expectations, for the most part delivering a sensible, rather muted note.

Pros
  • Powerful V8
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Impressive handling
Cons
  • Lacklustre exhaust
  • Not the most fun to drive

autoexpress[3]

Sentiment Score 51%
Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe is the firm's flagship performance car. In the UK it only comes in Competition spec, so the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 makes a massive 616bhp and 750Nm of torque. Despite the weight the M8 is low, so it's centre of gravity feels it too. There's a great level of grip, but you wouldn't know it through the artificial-feeling dead steering.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Powerful V8
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Lots of tech
Cons
  • Rear-wheel drive isn’t as responsive as rivals
  • No Android Auto

carmagazine[4]

Sentiment Score 41%
Reviewers from carmagazine have found the following***:
The M8 Competition sits in the awkward middle area of the M range, right beside the oddball M4 convertible and its manual gearbox. It costs around £30,000 more than the discontinued 600bhp M6, but is a less compelling drive than the current M5 Competition which sells for circa-£25 grand less. While it is notably quicker than, say, the Aston Martin DB11 V8, it lacks that special sense of the occasion.

Pros
  • Powerful V8
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Fantastic infotainment system
Cons
  • Lack of finesse on the road
  • Uncomfortable soft-top

carwow[5]

Sentiment Score 90%
Reviewers from carwow have found the following***:
The all-new BMW M8 is more like a T-Rex than a BMW M4. Up close it's larger, visibly heftier and much more intimidating. It's also significantly more powerful and – just like a Mercedes S63 Coupe – has a ravenous appetite. But is it worth the extra cash over the standard 8 Series?

Pros
  • Powerful engine
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • No Android Auto
  • Lacklustre infotainment system

carwow[6]

Sentiment Score 65%
Reviewers from carwow have found the following***:
The BMW M8 Gran Coupe is a larger, more practical version of the M8 Coupe. It comes with the same 625hp engine, but gets a more practical four-door body with a roomier boot and four seats. Audi and Porsche also provide the same blend of coupe styling with two rows of seats and monumental performance.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Bigger and more practical than the M850i
  • Lots of fun to drive
Cons
  • Not as practical as the 8 Series Coupe
  • Not as comfortable as the M8

cnet[7]

Sentiment Score 74%
Reviewers from cnet have found the following***:
The M8 Competition has very little chill, and that extends to fuel economy. The EPA rates the car at a paltry 15 miles per gallon city and 21 highway. Safety tech abounds, but you have to pay the piper. BMW's full complement of craftsmanship is on display.

Pros
  • Gorgeous interior
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Intuitive infotainment system
Cons
  • Lack of tech
  • No Android Auto

cnet[8]

Reviewers from cnet have found the following***:
The 8 Series Gran Coupe has a fantastic interior, and that's not just exclusive to the M8. Atop the center stack is where you'll find the main, 10.2-inch multimedia display. Apple CarPlay is standard, and can be used wirelessly, which is nice.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Gorgeous interior
  • Fantastic infotainment tech
  • Comfortable ride
Cons
  • Lack of legroom and headroom
  • Expensive for a midsize sedan

cnet[9]

Sentiment Score 71%
Reviewers from cnet have found the following***:
At $130,000 to start, it'll be the cheapest M8 of the bunch. With the top up, the M8 Convertible is perfectly cozy and quiet. But with the top down, it's surprisingly loud. The M8's cabin tech carries over from the rest of the 8 Series range.

Pros
  • Powerful V8 engine
  • Excellent cabin tech
  • Excellent infotainment system
Cons
  • Lacks Android Auto
  • No Android Auto
