Reviewer score 26%
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found the following***:
The Sony Xperia L4 comes with a 13-megapixel camera on the back, plus a wide-angle lens. However, a macro lens like on the comparable devices is missing. The camera takes surprisingly sharp pictures under normal lighting conditions. The screen resolves with an extended 720p resolution, which is standard in this price class.

Pros
  • Decent battery life
  • Decent cameras
  • Fast Wi-Fi
Cons
  • Mediocre camera performance
  • Slow WLAN
  • No microSD card slot

t3[2]

Reviewer score 48%
Reviewers from t3 have found the following***:
The Sony Xperia L4 has a 13MP main camera, a 5MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, there's an 8MP selfie snapper. Under the hood sits a 3,580mAh battery, which is smaller than most recent phones at any price. A Mediatek MT6762 chipset powers the phone, along with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Running Android 9 Pie, the phone feels very intuitive to use.

Pros
  • Decent camera system
  • Decent battery life
Cons
  • Mediocre performance
  • No 5G or Wi-Fi 6

techadvisor[3]

Reviewer score 43%
Reviewers from techadvisor have found the following***:
The Sony Xperia L4 costs £169 via the Xperia Official Partner in the UK, where it's also available for the same price at Amazon. There are no configuration options beyond colour, so in exchange you'll get 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The main 13Mp sensor is joined by 5Mp ultra-wide and 2Mp depth sensors. Despite sounding good on paper, the L4's cameras are a bit hit-and-miss.

Pros
  • Beautiful 21:9 aspect ratio display
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Underwhelming cameras
  • Mediocre camera performance

techradar[4]

Reviewer score 34%
Reviewers from techradar have found the following***:
The Sony Xperia L4 is not a powerful phone. It has a MediaTek Helio P22 processor, a relatively old processor announced in 2018. It also has just 3GB of RAM, which is the least its Android 9 software can scrape by with while avoiding grating performance issues. Games like PUBG can seem to take a small eternity to reach the main menu, and even much less demanding apps like Twitter and Chrome are affected to a lesser extent.

Pros
  • Decent battery life
  • Decent cameras
  • Good value for money
Cons
  • Slow charging
  • No 4K video

trustedreviews[5]

Reviewer score 43%
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found the following***:
The Sony Xperia L4 has a 3580mAh battery, which is a pretty decent size for a budget phone. It's not as big as the 5000mAh monstrosities found in the Honor 9A, the Realme 5, and the Moto G8 Power. There’s a 21:9 Multi-window app on the main home screen, which enables you to run multiple apps side by side or stacked one on top of the other. Video capture is an unremarkable 1080p and 30fps, but it’ll do at a push.

Pros
  • Decent performance
  • Decent battery life
  • Good camera
Cons
  • Mediocre low-light camera performance
  • Unreliable software
