Product Overview

Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante (chassis code AM7) is a luxury convertible in production from 2019. It is powered by a bi-turbocharged V12 engine that displaced 5.2 liters.
Undoubtedly, the most exciting thing about the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante is the V12 engine, which offers a level of smoothness and instant power response that no other engine configuration can compare. While it is no longer naturally-aspirated, the gain in torque makes the vehicle even more thrilling.
Still, the car is not perfect: compared to the previous DBS, the AM7 has somewhat awkward, incoherent styling elements.
With a 14.0L/100km (16.8mpg) fuel "dis-economy", owners have to be prepared to pay for their "smiles-per-mile".
Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante comes with double-wishbone at the front and multi-link at the rear. Combined with RWD, this setup provides one of the best handling characteristics and tuning capabilities.

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
Rear spring and skyhook damper rates are increased to cope with an additional 100kg of mass. There are modes for the suspension, and in their firmest setting the dampers do a very good job of keeping body control close without shattering the ride quality. But at speed that back axle is less poised than with the coupe, and more prone to a shimmy. It's marginal, but it's there.
Pros
  • Powerful V12 engine
  • Impressive handling
  • Excellent ride quality
Cons
  • Not as fast as the coupe
  • Won’t be for everyone

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 90% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The DBS Superleggera Volante is the new premier super GT convertible in Aston Marin's now two-car open-top line-up. Just like the coupe, the convertible uses the same bonded aluminum platform used on the DB11, and of course the same 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12. The car from Crewe costs a sizeable £72,400 less than the new big Aston, so the DBS is setting out its stall quite confidently.
Pros
  • Powerful V12
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Impressive handling
Cons
  • No hard-top roof
  • No hardtop roof

cnet[3]

Reviewer score 88% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cnet have found:
The DBS Superleggera Volante has a 715-hp twin-turbo V12 engine. The interior is comfortable, but its design isn't quite as lovely as the exterior. It's best enjoyed on a winding road with the wind in your hair; save track days for another time.
Pros
  • Powerful V12 engine
  • Gorgeous looks
  • Superb infotainment
Cons
  • Lackluster interior
  • Cabin isn't the best
