Product Overview
Leica V-Lux 5 is a 1″ compact camera with a large zoom range. Introduced by Leica in 2019, it comes with a 1" sensor with 20 MP (5472 x 3648) resolution and a 2.36 million-dot EVF.
The camera has a usable battery life, though a second battery may be a good thing to keep in your camera bag. It should be noted for having a 80 base ISO, which promises cleaner shots. The 12.0 fps burst rate serves enthusiasts well enough, though some professionals may find it limiting.
The Leica V-Lux 5 comes with a fully articulated touch display and 49 autofocus points. Leica has endowed this compact camera with a 16.7x zoom lens, which can be quite useful for travels. Last but not least, the camera can focus quite close to the subject.

Reviewer score 72% (normalized by Neofiliac)The V-Lux 5 ($1,250) is the same camera as the Lumix DC-FZ1000 II, just with Leica aesthetics. It's as good a camera as its twin, but it's up to you whether the Leica logo is worth a $350 price increase. Our favorite premium bridge camera is the $1,400 Sony RX10 III.
Pros
- Very good autofocus performance
- Very good build quality
Cons
- Larger buttons than the FZ1000 II

However, it's not the most portable or lightweight camera to take on the go. While its autofocus system is good with tracking moving objects, it struggles with face tracking.
Pros
- Fantastic image quality
- Great dynamic range
- Excellent battery life
- Well-built and comfortable to use
- Good continuous shooting rate
- Superb image quality, with minimal noise at higher ISO levels
Cons
- Poor face tracking performance
