External Reviews

digitaltrends[1]

Reviewer score 65% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
The Samsung Galaxy A71 5G offers a quad-lens camera, with a 64-megapixel main sensor. In good lighting, photos are colorful and bright with a decent amount of dynamic range and solid detail. In low light, the photos are relatively noisy and lack detail, which is usually the case with midrange phones.
Pros
  • Solid performance
  • Solid battery life
  • 5G support
Cons
  • No wireless charging
  • No IP rating

notebookcheck[2]

Reviewer score 57% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
The A71 uses the mid-range Snapdragon 730, an SoC that has eight cores. Qualcomm divides these into a performance cluster that contains two ARM Cortex-A76 cores and a standard cluster. These can clock up to 2.2 GHz and 1.8 GHz, respectively. There is also an Adreno 618 GPU and 6 GB of RAM onboard. The display not only impresses with its high maximum brightness but also good colour accuracy.
Pros
  • Bright AMOLED display
  • Fast Wi-Fi
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Slow SoC
  • No IP certification

pcmag[3]

Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The Galaxy A71 5G sports a 64MP primary camera, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 5MP macro lens. The front-facing camera clocks in at 32MP. The phone is powered by a 4,500mAh battery that will get even the most demanding user through the day.
Pros
  • Solid performance
  • Solid battery life
  • Fast charging
Cons
  • No wireless charging

techadvisor[4]

Reviewer score 77% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techadvisor have found:
The A71 is the second Samsung phone to use such a high resolution sensor, and the first to release outside of India. The front-facing camera is the same 32Mp, f/2.2 selfie shooter you'll find in all four of the new phones Samsung unveiled at CES 2020. The camera's notable on the front of the phone too, with a move from the A70's notch to a punchhole camera cut-out in the centre of the 6.7in AMOLED screen. It comes with 6GB of RAM and an octa-core Snapdragon 730 processor. There's no wireless charging option sadly, but that would be a big ask for a mid-range phone like this.
Pros
  • Gorgeous AMOLED display
  • Great battery life
Cons
  • No wireless charging
  • No headphone jack
  • No waterproof rating

techradar[5]

Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The Samsung Galaxy A71 has a huge, 6.7-inch display. It uses Samsung's Infinity-O screen technology which means you get a punch-hole camera design at the top of the display. The front-facing camera takes up more space on the A71 than it does on the cheaper Galaxy A51 - even though they're the same lens. The main sensor a 64MP, f/1.8 offering and from our brief test it produced well-lit, detailed images. There's a fingerprint scanner embedded into the display as well, plus the option to use face recognition to unlock the phone instead.
Pros
  • Gorgeous display
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No microSD card slot
  • Camera cut-out needs work

tomsguide[6]

Reviewer score 52% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from tomsguide have found:
The A71 was less than half as quick as the OnePlus 8, recording 551 frames at 8.6 frames per second. The 4,500-mAh battery inside the Galaxy A71 lasted an average of 10 hours and 49 minutes. It charges faster, too, with an included 25-watt adapter that reaches 60% in just 30 minutes.
Pros
  • Beautiful AMOLED display
  • Fantastic battery life
  • 5G connectivity
Cons
  • Sluggish software
  • No wireless charging

trustedreviews[7]

Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found:
The Samsung Galaxy A71 has a large 6.7-inch display and a 64MP main camera. The phone is unashamedly plastic and feels cheap and cheerful as a result. There’s a headphone jack sits on the bottom next to the USB-C port. The back is covered in a ‘Prism’ pattern that Samsung seems to be using a lot recently. There are four cameras tucked inside and this offers a good amount of variety.
Pros
  • Gorgeous design
  • Impressive performance
  • Great battery life
Cons
  • No wireless charging
  • No IP rating

wired[8]

Reviewer score 69% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from wired have found:
Samsung's A71 is one of the few midrange unlocked 5G phones. Performance is ample, running games like Genshin Impact without much trouble. Despite having a dedicated Night mode, the cameras falter in dim light. Google's $350 Pixel 4A happily (and consistently) takes better-looking night photos.
Pros
  • Solid performance
  • Solid battery life
  • 5G support
Cons
  • No microSD card slot
  • No headphone jack
