Product Overview

AMD Ryzen 9 5950X is a desktop CPU based on AMD's 4th-gen Zen (Zen 3) architecture. With 16 cores and 32 threads, the 5900X delivers a base clock of 3.4GHz and a boost clock of up to 4.9GHz. It is comparable to two conjoined Ryzen 7 5800Xs, with two 8-core dies sharing a single I/O die.
The 5950 X is the flagship in AMD's Ryzen 5000-series desktop microprocessor lineup.
The Ryzen 9 5950X has 512KB + 512KB L1 cache, 8MB L2 cache, and 64MB L3 cache. It provides 24 lanes of PCIe 4.0 and has a default TDP of 105W.
The Zen 3 architecture uses TSMC's 7nm process for the chiplets and GlobalFoundries' 14nm processor for the I/O die. Like other Ryzen 5000-series processors, the 5950X supports DDR4 up to 3200MHz. It is also unlocked. With AMD Ryzen Master Utility, the 5950X makes it easy to manage overclocking. Further, it supports AMD Ryzen VR Ready Premium that makes it a good choice for VR applications.

External Reviews

gizmodo[1]

Reviewer score 92%
Reviewers from gizmodo have found the following***:
Ryzen 9 5950X does indeed decimate Intel's Core i9-10900K in single core performance, 636 to 546, which is a full 90 points higher. The gap is much bigger in multi-core/multi-threaded performance, too. AMD's promise of increased frame rates from its previous generation also holds true.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Super-fast single core and multi-threaded performance
  • Faster than Intel's Ryzen 5000-series
  • More powerful than the i9-10900K
Cons
  • No RTX 3080

pcmag[2]

Reviewer score 82%
Reviewers from pcmag have found the following***:
The AMD Ryzen 9 5950X does exactly what we expected it to. It provides elite-level multicore muscle at a reasonable price point. As a $799 processor that beat the $979 Core i9-10980XE Extreme Edition in just about every test we could throw its way, it's the best value-for-sheer-cores option.

Pros
  • Powerful, multi-threaded CPU
  • Excellent productivity and content-creation performance
  • Good value for money
Cons
  • Not as powerful as competing Ryzen Threadrippers
