Product Overview

Audi Q2 is a subcompact crossover built on Volkswagen's MQB platform and shares underpinnings with the Audi A3 Mk3, Volkswagen Arteon, and VolksWagen Golf, etc. For the facelift, Audi has revamped the exterior design and refreshed the technology inside.
LED headlights now come as standard, while Matrix LED headlights are available: Seven individual LEDs seated in a shared module produce an intelligently controlled high beam light. Ten light-emitting diodes installed behind rhomboid optical components generate the daytime running light, while seven further LEDs generate the dynamic turn signal light in addition.
Inside, Dinamica microfiber is a new upholstery option that replaces Alcantara. Sport seat, two-zone automatic A/C, auxiliary heating, and electric tailgate are optional.

Reviewers from autocar have found the following***:
Audi’s Q2 has been one of the more successful players, racking up around 17,000 sales a year since its launch in 2016. Crucially, 50% of buyers are new to the brand, making this an important gateway model. The driving experience remains very familiar, being capable and composed but not getting the blood running hot.

Pros
  • Punchy engine
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Lacklustre ride

autocar[2]

Reviewer score 57%
Reviewers from autocar have found the following***:
With 148bhp from four turbocharged cylinders, the Q2 feels usefully quicker and more responsive under acceleration than the 1.0-litre three-pot. At 8.6sec it is almost three seconds quicker in the 0-62mph sprint, and is noticeably smoother under load. The automatic transmission is so sluggish, shuffling cogs even under a light foot at consistent speed and taking its time to react when you put your foot down.

Pros
  • Stylish looks
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Lack of dynamism
  • Automatic transmission is sluggish

autoexpress[3]

Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The Q2 slots in below its Q3 and Q5 stablemates. It uses the same platform as the Audi A3 hatchback. Prices range from £23,300 to £28,845 for Technik through to Black Edition models, while the top-spec SQ2 costs just shy of £40,000.

Pros
  • Powerful engines
  • Quattro four-wheel drive
Cons
  • Fiddly infotainment
  • Sporty S line models

autoexpress[4]

Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The Q2's interior consists of plenty of high-quality materials. The shutlines are tight and ergonomics are excellent. Rear-seat space is better than in some rivals, but the rear middle seat is tight for adults. Boot space is decent at 405 litres, expanding to 1,050 litres with the back seats folded.

Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Good standard equipment
  • Decent infotainment
Cons
  • Poor rear-seat space
  • No automatic gearbox

autoexpress[5]

Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The Audi Q2 has received a nip and tuck for 2020. The brand's answer to the BMW X2 and Mercedes GLA introduces improved tech, tweaked styling and what Audi hopes is a more tempting price tag. Last year the Q2 was Audi's most popular SUV in the UK, and its third-biggest seller overall – after the A1 and A3.

Pros
  • Stylish styling
  • Improved standard equipment
Cons
  • Lacklustre infotainment
  • Laggy set-up

The Audi Q2 is a hit with Pete's family. He was worried about squeezing two adults and two children into it, but it's proved him wrong. Yes, it does have some limitations, but so far it's coped with everything that's been thrown at it. And it's pretty good from behind the wheel as well.

Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Excellent infotainment system
  • Lots of standard equipment
Cons
  • A little cramped in the back
  • No touchscreen

carmagazine[7]

Reviewers from carmagazine have found the following***:
1.0-litre petrol is a willing little thing, nicely tractable at low revs with enough in the mid-range that you won't need to entirely thrash it in overtaking manoeuvres. Audi's S tronic dual-clutch auto is excellent - almost as good as BMW's eight-speed torque converter and miles better than the Volvo XC40's auto. Ride comfort is a plus, though our German test route wasn't particularly challenging on that front. Even the sports suspension fitted to the diesels we tested wasn't super-firm, and the end result is neutral and inoffensive.

Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Excellent infotainment tech
Cons
  • Lack of practicality
  • Not the most fun to drive

carwow[8]

Reviewers from carwow have found the following***:
The Audi Q2 makes a good choice if you're looking for a desirable, stylish SUV with a posh cabin that's easy to live with. The Q2's light steering helps you manoeuvre through tight spaces and the fairly soft suspension keeps things comfy over potholes. The standard manual gearbox is a doddle to use, but you'll want to try out the optional automatic.

Pros
  • Stylish looks
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent infotainment system
Cons
  • Not as comfortable as BMW X2
  • Alternatives are more fun to drive
