Product Overview

BMW G23 4-series convertible is the drop-top version of the G22 4-series coupe. A soft-top, the G23 represents a departure from the previous two generations of BMW 3/4-series, both of which had a four-section hard-top.
Like the G22 coupe, the new 4-series convertible wears at the front BMW's reimagined upright "double-kidney grille". The imposing grille is flanked by slim LED headlights or, optionally, BMW Laserlight.
BMW manages to maintain the 50:50 weight distribution while increasing chassis rigidity. Six-cylinder and diesel powertrains now feature 48V mild-hybrid technology.

Reviewers from autocar have found the following***:
BMW M4 Convertible has a meatier 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine. It sends 369bhp and 369lb ft to both axles via xDrive all-wheel drive. Roof-up isolation is very good, if not class leading, and with the wind deflector fitted, long top-down journeys are no sweat.

Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent infotainment system
Cons
  • No rear-drive option

Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
BMW has bolstered its open-top range with the new 4 Series Convertible. While most buyers choose a drop-top to enjoy open-air motoring, the most significant change to this G23 generation comes when the inevitable UK weather hits. This new version has ditched the old car's folding hard-top and replaced it with a fabric item. It's still better to drive than any other four-seat cabrio on the market for similar money.

Pros
  • Fantastic infotainment
  • Impressive range
Cons
  • Slightly heavier than the coupé

carwow[3]

Reviewer score 74%
Reviewers from carwow have found the following***:
The BMW 4 Series Convertible is a four-seater, but has two doors. It has 385 litres of boot space when the roof is up, but this reduces down to 300 litres when it's folded away. There are three petrols and three diesels, some coming with mild hybrid technology. Prices start at £45 for the entry-level model and go up to £59645 for the top-spec M440d.

Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Lots of engines to choose from
Cons
  • Lack of standard infotainment tech

The 2021 BMW 430i Convertible's starting price of $54095 isn't too shabby. The top itself is a breeze to operate, working at up to 31 mph. iDrive takes a little while to get used to, but once you have it down, it's easy to use with minimal distraction.

Pros
  • Gorgeous interior
  • Comfortable ride
  • Excellent infotainment
Cons
  • No adaptive cruise control
  • Expensive for what you get

cnet[5]

Reviewer score 86%
Reviewers from cnet have found the following***:
The 3.0-liter turbo-I6 is an absolute sweetheart, strong, sonorous and practically as smooth as an electric motor. M440i examples come with an M Sport Differential, which equalizes torque between the left and right rear wheels for better traction. The interior is bright and airy, suitably (if not overwhelmingly) luxurious, too.
Find the original article here.
Pros
  • Powerful turbo-I6
  • Impressive acceleration
  • Comfortable ride
Cons
  • Lackluster infotainment system
