Product Overview

The BX series is the entry-level option in LG's 2020 4K OLED smart TV lineup. Powered by α7 Gen3 rather than the α9 Gen3 processor found in higher-end models, LG BX offers fewer image and audio processing features.
Available in 55, 65, or 77 inch diagonals, the BX series smart TVs support Dolby Vision IQ and Dolby Atmos as well as LG's new FILMMAKER MODE that disables several image processing functions and reduces the frame rate. Like other TVs in LG's 2020 OLED lineup, the BX series smart TVs offer NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync support, thanks to two HDMI 2.1 ports.
Despite their affordable prices, the BX series carry over LG's industrial design in its premium models and is a good option for home entertainment, including gaming.
LG's full-featured OLED 4K TV is the CX series.

    rtings[1]

    Reviewer score 72%
Reviewers from rtings have found the following***:
The LG BX OLED is an excellent overall TV. Its OLED panel individually turns off pixels, resulting in an infinite contrast ratio and perfect black uniformity. It's outstanding for gaming because it has a near-instant response time, VRR support, and really low input lag. Sadly, it doesn't get very bright, so it's not ideal to use in extremely bright rooms.

    Pros
    • Outstanding reflection handling
    • Incredible contrast ratio
    • Wide viewing angles
    • Upscales lower-resolution content without any issues
    Cons
    • Doesn't get bright enough to combat glare in well-lit rooms
    • Not ideal for gaming

    t3[2]

    Reviewer score 87%
Reviewers from t3 have found the following***:
LG BX is a brilliantly specified, competitively priced OLED TV that holds particular appeal to gamers. No other OLED set maker offers as much support for gaming hardware as LG, be it through those fast 4K 120fps HDMI inputs, VRR and ALLM, or PC centric NVIDIA G-SYNC support. Picture quality is also extremely good, and while the BX's Alpha 9-powered siblings have the edge in nuance and image definition, the differences are less obvious than you might first imagine.

    Pros
    • Superb image quality
    • Bright, bright screen
    • Great gaming features
    Cons
    • No Dolby Atmos
    • No HDR10+ support

    techradar[3]

    Reviewer score 87%
Reviewers from techradar have found the following***:
X's processor does an excellent job of bringing images to life. It's only when things get murkier that the chip appears to struggle, adding a layer of grain that isn't visible in brighter scenes. The BX does have a slight issue with frame stutter, however; sudden movements often cause a brief glitch of video noise, even in well-lit scenes. Sound is generally strong and impactful, whether bringing out the timbky voice of an actor, drawing out an ominous knock on a door, launching into punchy punchy music. Switch to Cinema audio vastly ups the bass – something that was welcome when watching The Greatest Showman.

    Pros
    • Gorgeous OLED panel
    • Impressive picture quality
    • Great audio presets
    Cons
    • No Dolby Vision or HDR10 support
    • No built-in speakers

Reviewers from tomsguide have found the following***:
The LG BX was able to reproduce more colors in the Rec 709 spectrum than either of those sets. In gaming mode, with nearly all video processing shut off, the set turned in a lag time of only 14.5 milliseconds. LG relies on its own smart TV software, dubbed webOS, rather than a third-party program such as Roku TV.

    Pros
    • Excellent picture quality
    • Robust remote control
    • Built-in Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant
    Cons
    • Lack of apps

Lack of Freeview Play dents the BX's mainstream appeal. ThinQ AI implementation includes support for digital assistants. There’s also Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit integration. Streaming apps available include Now TV, Disney+, Apple TV, Sky Store, BritBox, Twitch and YouTube.
