Product Overview

Yamaha SR-C20A is an entry-level soundbar that is easy to place in any room, thanks to its compact size and built-in subwoofer.
With the said subwoofer and dual passive radiators, the SR-C20A is able to deliver a surprising amount of bass for its size. It also supports HDMI ARC and virtual surround mode, which are rare for an entry-level, compact soundbar. It also features Clear Voice technology for enhanced dialogue clarity.
The Yamaha SR-C20A can easily be placed on a cabinet or shelf, or wall-mounted via the built-in keyholes; no additional bracket is required.
Launched at the same time is the more substantial SR-B20A, which employs a dual subwoofer setup.

cnet[1]

Reviewer score 75%
Reviewers from cnet have found the following***:
Yamaha's C20A soundbar is small but offers a wide, involving sound. It's especially suited to action movies and gaming. It may lack the physical side-firing speakers of the Roku Streambar. DTS Virtual:X offers a huge soundstage and I was able to track sounds as they moved around the room and to the sides.

Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Clear Voice
  • DTS Virtual:X surround sound
Cons
  • No subwoofer

digitaltrends[2]

Reviewer score 51%
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found the following***:
Yamaha's C20A produces a very clear sound and does exceptionally well with acoustic-leaning music. The sound is still clear, to be fair, and it does get loud for the package it comes in. For $200, Yamaha's SR-B20A is a better option for bigger rooms, though it doesn't have the luxury of compact versatility.

Pros
  • Clear, clear sound
  • Compact design
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Subwoofer is too bass-deficient
  • No built-in remote

t3[3]

Reviewer score 80%
Reviewers from t3 have found the following***:
Yamaha's SR-C20A is a far more spacious, well-defined and sturdier listen than any TV that doesn't have a bespoke speaker array. Detail levels are high, and even at the bottom of the frequency range the Yamaha differentiates textures and tones well. The ability to switch, sonically speaking, between ‘stealth’ and ‘shock and awe' is important in games.

Pros
  • Compact, well-defined soundstage
  • Compact and well-built
Cons
  • Lack of rhythmic certainty

whathifi[4]

Reviewer score 72%
Reviewers from whathifi have found the following***:
At 60cm wide and 6.4cm tall, the SR-C20A will have little trouble sitting beneath any TV or computer monitor. It promises volumes and depth belying its stature thanks to its pair of 46mm full-range drivers and integrated 75mm subwoofer with dual passive radiators. Bluetooth 5.0 is on board for wireless streaming.

Pros
  • Clear and focused sound
  • Easy to set up and use
Cons
  • Dim dimensions
  • No dynamic expression
